Re: fat even if you're small

Dress right for your leg type

No matter what your leg shape, here's great advice on showing them off to maximum advantage!

The golden rule
There is a simple rule here that applies to all legs, whether they're long, short, fat or thin. Never and we mean NEVER cut a trouser or skirt through the fattest part of your leg. This means don't buy skirts, shorts or trousers that end mid thigh, mid knee or mid calf. Trust me, it will make you look fatter. Above or below the three mid points is the golden rule.

Short and thick legs
You'll find the simple things make all the difference. For starters make sure your tops don't reach past your hips, and that they don't end on your hips. This will only make you look shorter and wider. Check that the rise (the space between the crotch and the waistband) is not long or baggy, and try hipster trousers as they may fit better. Avoid baggy trousers since this often gives a boxy look. Do wear dark plain colours as this will give a slimming illusion and don't buy anything with horizontal lines. Skirts and crop trousers shouldn't be longer than below the knee. And of course, don't forget every girl's friend, the stiletto for adding instant height. If you can't walk in high heels, at least go for a kitten heel.

Long thick legs
Avoid capri pants as, these will make your legs look even longer and wider. Leggings are a no no. Bootleg and flared trousers will balance your proportions and a good pair of flat-fronted wide-legged trousers will look brilliant on your pins. Open-toe sandals and wedges will give a slimming effect and make sure the heel on your shoe isn't too delicate as this will fight against you. Look for more of a stacked or thicker heel. A-line skirts in big bold prints are still looking fresh so grab one now! Again, the obvious answer: wear dark colours on your lower half. But try to get some detail on them, perhaps some funky brooches on back pockets - just make sure they are big or they will be lost!
