Double-sided tape (or rolled up duct tape!), safety pins (or a fancy brooch). I was watching Tyra and there was a celebrity stylist on. If a dress is too loose, you can just fold up the part that's loose (pleats...?) at the back of your dress and put a nice brooch there.
