I'm not going to bring a 'real' credit card, I was planning to get a prepaid credit card from Vancity... Is that a good idea?

LOL... that's obvious.... I would obviously bring underwear and stuff O_o;;;
even if you get a pre-paid visa you might still have to pay a heafty amount of surcharges when you use EACH transaction. So each time you swipe that card, then there's a surcharge.
I think for 3 days you can take out 200 dollars US, i'm sure you'll use it all. I can spend up to $500 in just one day's worth of shopping in the states. So i suggest you take out some at least some cash, and if you need more then use the visa card.
If you go with a school group, i don't know if you would still have to pay duties when you come back to canada. So in that case, if you know you are gonna do some shopping, you can always bring less clothing, and just buy it when you are in seattle... then that case if you cut the tags u can jsut wear it back to canada w.out getting taxed

and i won't count on the free toothbrush/tooth paste.... i always bring my own. and NEVER use the cups in the hotel, becuase i watched a tv special, they had hidden cameras... and thye said they never really wash the cups out, they just rinse it out w. water and leaves it for the next guest...
it's always good to bring a small bottle of freebreeze w. antibacterial properties....
