For a higher paying job, you should definitely try to find something in an office environment, like a doctor's or dentist. It might be tough if you have no previous work experience period.

Also, you might consider applying for a cashier position at some place like Superstore. I worked there when I was out of highschool and I am pretty sure they paid over minimum wage since such places are always looking for people b/c of high turnover.

The other option is when you are applying for department stores like the Bay or Sears, consider inquiring about whether they have any positions open in their office. Also, the cosmetics counters at department stores usually pay more than minimum wage. You don't necessarily need experience. I'm sort of assuming you wear makeup or at least are pretty decent at it. :P
