its true. you will not be able to use it if you do not know the original owner's address.

i gave my friend my coach postcard since i'm not a coach lover anymore. good thing i gave her the postcard with the envelope because my friend memorized my address. and therefore she was able to use my discount under my name.

so it only works..if u know the originals person's name, address, postal code.
