Just wondering if you guys find that your eyes hurt after spending a few hours on your laptop?

If not, what laptop do you use?? :sideways:

A common occurance from people who are in front of a computer daily for long periods of time.

In my computer imaging course the teacher gave advice
-of those aspiring to become full-time graphic artists or use the computer often should invest in lenses specially made for cutting down computer radiation.

Best to visit the optometrist and ask about these lenses and check if your eyesight is getting worse.

Mine hurts after using my desktop!!!
I don't find that happening w/ my laptop though (dell xps m1330). I crank my monitor brightness up high, I wonder if that has any relevance?

yes, thats why I have to use my glasses when I'm on it,so I've resorted to always using my desktop.

and I think the brightness has some part to do with the eye problem.
My brightness is at ZERO.

Oh, there's like special screens to block off radiation if your eyes hurt.
And you should have like intervals when you go online/on the computer.. like every so often you should take a break or you overwork your eyes...

At work they ask us to look away from the computer for 2 minutes every 30 minutes! Sick, eh? No wonder everyone I work with has glasses or contacts. I am pretty much expecting to lose my eyesight soon.

Yes, It is common for eyes to hurt after 3-4 Hours of Strain whether it being on the computer or just watching TV. Some People may even start to get headaches. It's a good idea to takes breaks every hour or so and get some fresh air.

k guys.. my eyes feel a lot better now and i think i know what was causing this, and it's actually quite simple....

my environment was too bright!!

ever walk into a walmart and feel blinded by all those fluorescent lights? imagine trying to work all day in that lighting, let alone stare at a computer screen. it's the same thing when u have all your lights on in your room.... it causes you to bump up your brightness/contrast settings to the max so your eyes can can see the contrast on your monitor better. i think this actually hurts your eyes.

so instead, i now:

1) turn off all the lights in my surroundings, and rely on a small trusty desktop light

2) the next step is i reduce my brightness and contrast settings on my monitor by 50%

3) lastly, i almost always connect my laptop to my 20" lcd monitor if i'm at home, as i also believe your eyes need to focus more on a smaller laptop screen (mine is 13.3") which can strain your eyes.

by doing the above, i can honestly say that my eyes never hurt anymore, even if i spend a whole day on the computer! if you're at home, try this! it worked for me =P

I sometimes do get eyestrain from working in front of the computer. Just try to take frequent breaks, maybe do some eye exercises.

If your eyes start hurting after staring at the screen too long, you should definitely stop because you're damaging your vision. Your eyes are pretty much strained and you might even find yourself with a headache.

The best is to adjust the lighting and most importantly, the font size. Sometimes laptops are adjusted to small fonts and I alway make it bigger.

It's fine for me. I'm using a Sony VAIO SZ series.
I'm on my desktop a lot too and it's pretty much the same, no problems at all =]
