hard drive choices

hi everyone. my friend is looking for a hard drive, the brand doesn't matter. as long as it has a lot of space with a good price i guess. does anyone have a suggestion on what's good and whats not? =D thanks ==)

Internal or external? External go with Lacie, by far the superior brand in my opinion.

Just stay away from Western Digital, they have a tendency to die. Seagate is overall quite good.

I was reading this thread a couple weeks ago and the people on it suggested buying a real internal hard drive and then buy a casing for it... supposedly a lot of the external ones uses refurbished hard drives so they have more problems. Is this true?

If it is refurbished it should state it.
I don't believe it's normally refurbished drives or something.

no... using a refurbished drive and selling it as new would be illegal, the difference between "New" and "New Case" would be new harddrive and case and refurbished hard drive with new case... it'd be liking selling fakes as authentics... know what I'm saying?
