foundation + fingers = ?

I have recently been using my hands/fingers to put on my foundation. I find that I don't miss any spots on my face and it doesn't leave any streaks at all. I use to use a make-up brush but then I thought of how gross it would be to constantly be using the same brush (even though you clean it).

My question is... is using my hands/fingers not good for me? Why or why not? Oh and just to let you all know my hands are washed and cleaned right before I put on my foundation...

Please list the pros/cons that you think...
I heard that you use more foundation because it soaks into your skin...?

Re: foundation + fingers = ?

you use the most foundation if you use the sponge. as long as you wash your hands before applying your foundation, then it's fine =)

and using your hands does make your foundation blend better, imo.

yeah i find using sponges is the worst..

maybe it's just my foundation brush that doesn't apply my foundation nicely to the skin.. i have also had that one for at least 1 year... how often should i change something like that?

well as long as you're keeping good care of your brush by washing it once every week or 2 weeks, it can last a long time. but if your foundation brush doesn't apply nicely on your skin, maybe it's time to go shopping for a new one? =]

Re: foundation + fingers = ?

I don't use any sponge at all
sponge just sucks up all the
foundation so you tend to use
more of it! & that also means
you finish your foundation too
quickly which sucks! Just as long
you wash your hands before
applying it should be fine ( =
& plus - it's easier! No streaks!

Re: foundation + fingers = ?

I always use a brush for foundation. I find that it goes on smoother and blends better. You should try investing in a new foundation brush.. a good brush can last you YEARS with proper care.

i use my fingers as well and it blends in nicely.
i've used cotton balls before, but they didn't work very well.

Re: foundation + fingers = ?

I used to use fingers until I stopped using liquid foundation altogether. (I now use mineral makeup) I, too, found fingers to be better at blending. Then again, i never really had enough practice with a foundation brush.. i felt like it took so much longer to blend, and foundation is one of my least favorite things to apply so i just wanted to get it done and overwith quickly.

I do think that with a good quality foundation brush, you can get fantastic application, and the benefit would be not having to dirty your fingers. Cons would be having to wash your brush regularly.

Re: foundation + fingers = ?

I read somewhere that sponges are for better for more heavier applications and brushes are better for blending and evening out your skin but i still use my fingers. Just to lazy and cheap to actually go out and buy a good brush.

Re: foundation + fingers = ?

You shouldt use your fingers because sometimes it doesnt apply evenly. Also your fingers (no matter how much you wash them , have natural oils in them,) which can be transfered onto your face, another thing is , maybe its your brush? I use annebelle foundation brush from wallmart ( i dont wanna spend that much on the brush unless when i go to portland to get the clinque one for 15. Annebelle works and is not to expensive .
