Request How to keep colored hair from fading?

Any advice to help maintain colored hair, the same shade you come out of the salon with?
Also, has anyone dyed their hair ash brown before? I'm noticing that its fading quite fast

Re: How to keep colored hair from fading?

every colors fades. it also depends what products you use, what shampoos you use, whats your natural hair color, and if you used boxed color. if you want the color to last longer, use professional color shampoo. also there's color conditioner to boost your color which i think you could only get from a professional salon.

Re: How to keep colored hair from fading?

dont wash your hair that often (ie. every other day): you can also put a bit of baby powder in your hair to soak up the oils and make your hair smell nice

use shampoo and conditioner that maintains colour in your hair

make sure you are colouring your hair with "permanant" colour/dye

Re: How to keep colored hair from fading?

pureology antifade complex is an awsome shampoo/conditioner for color treated hair
they dont have any of the salts that regular shampoos have that fades out your hair color

Re: How to keep colored hair from fading?

Try the Bumble and Bumble Color Support Shampoo. It helps keep colors from going brassy. I also like the Aveda color Shampoo both are quite expensive but work great!!

Re: How to keep colored hair from fading?

Don't wash your hair with hot water. In the winter, I rinse shampoo with hot water and I rinse the conditioner with cold water but in the summer or on any hot day, I use cold water to rinse the shampoo too.

Re: How to keep colored hair from fading?

Use color depositing shampoos like Redken, John Frieda or Aveda. Try washing only with conditioner and on the ends if you have oily roots. There are lots of people that use only conditioner to wash and they swear by it. I use it off and on.

Re: How to keep colored hair from fading?

Really? I think conditioner just makes your hair greasier..
Thats what I feel happens when i put conditioner sometimes.

OH MAN and that baby powder thing sure works but don't over do it if you have dark hairr!!
It makes your hair go a funky color.
