Gels & Mousse

-Gels are thick, clear liquids. Applied to wet hair they provide strong hold. Excellent for adding definition and creating sculpted styles.
-How to use gel: For volume apply gel to wet hair. Dab a small amount of gel in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, and apply it to your roots. Apply to dry hair to create a wet look.
-Mousse is easy to work with and has a softer, lighter texture than gel. It adds volume and protects against heat and humidity making it great for frizz-prone curly hair.
-How to use mousse: On wet hair apply a small amount of mousse at the roots of the hair. To give lift to fine hair, apply it at the roots on dry hair.

Pastes

-New range of products. Available in cream or gel form.)
-Consumers have problems with pastes because of their texture; leave the hair greasy.
-Pastes work better on coarse or naturally curly hair; add definition and reduce frizz.
-Leaves the hair pliable. Hair isn’t left crispy.
-How to use: Put a small amount in your hands; rub your hands together well to emulsify it. Apply it starting at the ends and work your way up the hair scrunching it in your hands. Hair is more porous at the ends so it will suck up the excess and roots won’t be greasy.

Shine Enhancers

-Add gloss and sheen to hair’s surface.
-Silicone-based and water-soluble.
-Available in creams but serum is easier to use.
-How to use: Apply when the hair is dry. Put a couple drops in your hand, rub your hands together to warm it up, and then start at the ponytail and work your way up. Use sparingly to avoid a greasy look.

Tips

-Choose a product that’s convenient and works for you.
-Directions usually call for an amount that’s appropriate for shoulder-length hair. For long hair use more, for short hair slightly less.
-When applying product to damp hair, hair should be 60 percent dry; too much water dilutes the product, making it less effective.
