Liquid vs. Pencil eyeliner?

Hey everyone, I just finished looking at the other thread about eyeliner in this forum, and I was wondering, does liquid or pencil or those little pots (that u apply with a brush) work best? So far i've only tried pencil and it's OK, my eyeliner doesn't really smudge that much, but sometimes I find it not that easy to apply. Any recommendations??

Re: Liquid vs. Pencil eyeliner?

from what i know so far the eyeline gel is the best and easiest. I think liquid is the hardest and the pencil one easiest to smudge.

Re: Liquid vs. Pencil eyeliner?

i prefer pencil better. even tho it might smudge more compare to liquid.i think liquid is too define. and it does not look as nice with eyeshadow.
but bobbi brown's gel pot is really good i heard.

Re: Liquid vs. Pencil eyeliner?

i prefer using an angle brush with some black eye shadow (u can wet it too to make it more liquidy if you want). It's the easiest to work with i think because it's already eyeshadow and it doesn't smudge! but if you want a more dramatic look then go with liquid eyeliner.

Re: Liquid vs. Pencil eyeliner?

I actually don't use either liquid nor pencil eyeliners.

I use......GEL!! Specifically...MAC's "fluidline".

It goes on soo smoothly (you'll need to buy the eyeliner brush for it though). It doesn't smudge & it stays on for the entire day. Plus you only need to use a little bit on the brush and you just glide it over your eyes.

Coms in many shades =) Black is best!

Re: Liquid vs. Pencil eyeliner?

i use the pencil. i think it works fine. it looks more natural on the eyes than liquid. i can't stand girls who use liquid eyeliner and make it so noticable/defined. cuz it looks trashy. imo - it makes yur eyes look smaller/squintier.

nonetheless, eventually the pencil will smudge..probably liquid is like that too...u just have to remember to check up on it a few times during the day and wipe off any smudges with tissue. it's not that much of a hassle.

where do u get bobbi brown? i've heard some people on this forum talk about it but before that I've never even heard of this brand! I'm going to check out the MAC one tho, I just finished going to a make up lesson and i bought a new brush and the make up artist showed me how to do it really well!

Re: Liquid vs. Pencil eyeliner?

It depends on certain occassions, and whether or not you want a dramatic look. Liquid eyeliner's pretty dramatic and defined. I don't really use it so I'm not too sure which brand would work best. Pencil eyeliner's more of everyday wear. In my opinion, I think the drier the eye makeup is, the less it will smudge. So I actually don't use the gel-based eyeliners. Hm, sometimes smudging can result from lack of mascara. Try a coat of mascara just to seal in any eye makeup that you could've gotten on your lashes. It will still smudge eventually, but mascara does help a bit. =)

Re: Liquid vs. Pencil eyeliner?

i use creme eyeliner and it works SOOO well! You use a brush to apply it so you can get a fine or thicker line and it doesnt smudge and lasts all day. I use the one from Merle Norman and its awesome

yah, i like the Mac fluidline too my coworkers introduced it to me, and it is soo good, cause it doesn't really smudge as much as pencil, but is very easy to remove with the proper eye makeup remover. although i like the pencil one too for when i want a more smokey eye look, or if i'm too lazy to apply with the brush for the fluidline and clean up the brush after
