Re: Best Sunscreen

My facialist tells me that higher the SPF just means that you don't need keep re-applying. She said ususally 30SPF is good enough.

Re: Best Sunscreen

is it true that you have to keep reapplying your sunscreen? because it doesnt work after a certain time?
i always thought if you apply on sunscreen, it'll be effective for the whole day...

Re: Best Sunscreen

my dermatologist told me that yes, the higher the spf, the worse it is for your skin because it requires more chemicals to have that high spf

for vancouver weather, spf 15-30 should be enough, depending on how much time you spend outdoors and you do need to reapply it once in a while (my derma suggest once in the morning and once around noon)

i love neutragena sunscreen and i heard kiehls is good too. just look for something that won't clog pores and is waterbase and won't give you an oily feeling

Re: Best Sunscreen

my fav sunscreen is the Shiseido Extra smooth sun protectant lotion for face/body spf 34. It's water /sweat resistant and is so light feeling and not sticky at all. It absorbs really fast and is great for the face becuase it's non-oily.

Re: Best Sunscreen

I had my skin checked for sun damage and the specialist said that Spf 30 is the lowest you should use and protects around 99%. Anything higher like 45 or 55 etc will just give you like 99.99% or whatever..lol Most people use 30 Spf but forget that you have to reapply every couple of hours and more often if you sweat or swim.

Using spf does prevent aging, I heard somewhere that it can reverse sun damage if you wear it all the time (not sure if it's true though??)

Summerheaven: Neutrogena makes a sunblock that is non-shiny and oil free. It's what I'm using right now, pretty good for summer. It's called Ultra Sheer Dry-touch sunblock. It comes in Spf 30, 45 and 55.

I have oily, sensitive skin and I breakout easily with new products, but it seems to be okay for me. I guess it depends on each person's skin. You should try out some different sunblocks, most department stores let you try it out and if it doesn't work well with your skin you can return it. I think that cosmetics such as moisturizers, cleansers, and things like sunblock are always a hit and miss. You never know how it's going to react with your skin.

Coppertone has some good sunblocks you might want to try. If you're worried about breaking out you should stick with sunblock specific for the face and I think it should be all right. =)
