healthier skin for male

Here are some basic tips and guidelines to encourage male to maintain healthier skin because the face is the first thing people notice.

#1 Keep the skin clean. Men have 15% oilier skin and significantly larger pores than women and that means that those pores get dirtier. Deep cleansing is important to keep the pores clear, skin healthy and looking great. Deodorant soaps are a not to be used because they contain harsh ingredients, leave a detergent film behind and may irritate the skin. Guys may not be ready for a facial, thinking that’s for the ladies. They couldn’t be more wrong because a good facial is essential to remove dead cells and smooth the surface of his skin.
Moisturizing is an absolute necessity. Yet, we all know that men do a poor job of taking care of their skin. Maybe it’s a macho thing. Maybe it’s a remnant of the old wild wild west. But that’s not the look of today’s well-groomed male.
The area around the eyes is sensitive and one of the first places to show age because the eye skin secretes no necessary oils on its own. Since even men believe 50 is the new 40 and are in no hurry to retire and look old, You can recommend the right product for him to use after cleansing and shaving.

#2 Treat the skin and keep it toned. Men are often outside more than women are and environmental debris and pollutants are more a factor to the skin’s health. Toning keeps the skin clear and firm. Suggest an astringent or toner with glycolic or alpha hydroxyl acids, which work best for toning the face. These acids actually can reduce the pore size and help avoid ingrown hairs.

#3 Protect the skin by counseling your male clients to avoid over exposure to the sun, staying in shape, eating right and doing everything in moderation. Recommend time at the spa for that deep tissue massage or hot stone therapy.

Remind your male clients the importance to avoid over exposure to the sun, even as the days grow shorter. The sun may not be as strong and direct as it is in the heat of the summer but its rays can still do damage. And after you get your male clients psyched up to take good care of their skin and have them stock up with your recommened professional products, suggest they come back next month before the Holidays for a skin tune-up and to be sure to bring their significant other to join the fun.
