concealer problem

i have problems applying concealer around my eyes (i have dark eye circleS)
i used to use a concealer stick, i believe it was convergirl.. but i stopped using it because i find it just becomes crusty on my eyes after a day.

now i use liquid concealer, also from covergirl.. but after a few hours of applying, the concealer starts creasing up where my creases are above my eyelids.. why is it doing that? is it because of oily lids maybe?

i always moisturize my eyes before applying makeup on them because i find it really hard to apply makeup smoothly on my eyes due to dryness.

Re: concealer problem

i don't think it's necessary to put concealer ABOVE your eyes or on your eyelids. what do ya have to conceal up there? :P

well now that you're using liquid, try using a tiny concealer brush for better blending. or trying dusting some powder foundation or loose powder after application.

Re: concealer problem

It is definitely because of the oily eyelids. I have the same problem. I think what's best is to have separate concealer for the eyelids such as eyezing or eye bright (forgot which one) from Benefit. I'm not saying they work because I heard they don't, but it's the kind of product you should go after. As well, you can also put eyeshadow that do not crease, that way it will conceal and cover the oily eyelids =)

The problem can also be caused by the kind of moisturizer you put on your eyes. Actually I don't think you should use cream kind of stuff before you put on make-up because they will not stay on your face then. You should try hydrating/moisturzing kind of toner and lotion, not just any kind of moisturizer.

Re: concealer problem

i put concealer above my eyelid because i have dark circles that go all the way around my eyes.. so applying concealer only under my eyes isn't enough..

my skin is naturally kinda dry.. i'm afraid putting loose powder on will make my concealer crackly and dry.. which is often the case if i don't use a moisturizer first. in fact today i tried applying concealer without using any moisturizer (cuz i thought maybe moisturizer was the problem).. and yes, now it's all crackly and gross.

Re: concealer problem

er...u should always mosturize before u put on make up...

i always put face lotion and a lil extra more on my eye bag area before i dot some concealer on it and set it with powder.

Re: concealer problem

Do you let your moisturizer absorb before you apply concealer? If not the moisturizer might make your eyelids oily and cause the concealer to crease. Try letting the moisturizer sink in for 5-10 mins before applying concealer. If it still creases it's probably due to oily lids. I have oily lids and i use MAC paints (bare canvas) and it works great alone or as primer under eyeshadow to prevent creasing.

Re: concealer problem

You need to use a base on your eyelid. Lancome sells an eye-makeup base but I find any base should be okay.

I use Anna Sui's clear foundation base ($28 for 30mL if I remember correctly).

Re: concealer problem

ok i've tried everything that was suggested here (thx y'all) but nothing has worked so far..
so maybe i need to switch to a different brand of concealer
can anyone suggest a brand that isn't too drying (ie. liquid concealer, not stick) but isn't tooooo expensive?

Re: concealer problem

so you've tried using a base for the eye? i kinda have the same problem, not that i'm oily but i know what you mean. instead of using a moisterizer, use eyecream.
1.eyecream
2.base
instead of using a concealer for your eyelids, try using a foundation. remember to always PAT your make up around your eyes (easier said then done cause i still rub everything) but you'll see those wrinkles creep up on you faster if you don't care for your skin. never too late to start, it's all down hill after 30!
