What type of Salon shampoo is good?

After using Herbal Essense, Thermasilk, L'Oreal, and etc. shampoo for over a month, my hair gets really oily, so a friend recommended S Factor or Bed Head. I normally change shampoo every month, but now it seems like any shampoo I use it will make my hair oily.

Any suggestion for a salon shampoo and where to buy?

Re: What type of Salon shampoo is good?

It seems like those shampoos you mentioned have lots of silicones. Great if you have dry hair but bad if you have oily scalp. I would try using something without silicones. Doesnt have to be salon and not all drugstore is bad. London Drugs is selling Giovanni and Avalon which is normally found in health food stores. Speaking of which you might try Avalon if they have one with lavender in it. Lavender is great for balancing an oily scalp. Or you can get some lavender oil and mix a few drops with your shampoo to get a similar effect.

There is a thread on the Longhair Lovers forum which talks about using only conditioner to wash your hair. It works great and my hair doesnt get oily the same.

hmm... I like using red ken. I use the biotera shampoo for oily hair and it works. but I think the best one is phyto oily hair shampoo. it's really good.

do you touch your hair often? and you should switch shampoo everytime you shampoo. you don't eat the same meal everyday soo your hair shouldn't either. you could also try scalp treatment.

I don't touch my hair often, but do have a oily scalp. I will try Avalon. Where can you buy Phyto?

So I should switch my shampoo everytime I wash my hair?

yeah, then you can't do much about it. I get it off my friend. she could get it for a cheaper price. cheaper than salon prices.

I use Joico's shampoo and conditioner. There isn't anything spectacular about it. I actually like Pantene better.

which one? joico provides kertain for your hair while pantene doesn't. pantene actually ruins your hair. but it's your choice.

kertain is protein. i don't actually remember what pantene does. but it sucks and ruins your hair in the long run. there's something in there. it works in a bad way. for H&S dandruff shampoo, the shampoo takes 1-2 layers of your scalp.

That make sense. I do not have dandruff problem, but uses Head and Shoulder once in a while and my scalp is not as oily.
