However I was born entrepreneur and always knew I would eventually run my own company. In addition to that I am a very creative & artistic person. I often wondered what I would become but never thought it would be what I am now. When I started in this industry there was no course or book on how to become a wedding/event planner, everything I know is through experience...Eight years worth to be exact! I think although these courses provide some insight on the industry it really does not prepare you for the real thing...and the real thing means getting out there and actually doing an event.
Hi there,

Like you I am an Event Planner. highschool - wanted to be an event planner, UBC - wanted to work for CSIS (haha), wanted to be a psychologist, wanted to be in marketing, and finally... wanted to be an event planner again! i love it for all the stress, excitement, and then (finally!) the happy faces of the guests at your event =) so worth it.

I mostly do galas, and especially related to ballroom dancing competitions locally and nationally. Recently got into charity events work, and excited to gain some experience there. I would love to do some work in wedding planning! (that's why i got so interested in events to begin with... ya... not very original huh? haha). 5 years and counting - tho i just got out of UBC =) still green, but ready to rock and roll.

Just curious, what's your company called? =)

Oh boy! I don't really want to air this out. If you send me a private message or email I will gladly tell you.

P.S. I was an event planner for a major charitable foundation for quite some time.

Graphic designer and / or illustrator :) . My parents are very supportive of me, so that boosts my motivation I guess, as it can be a challenging and competitive field.
