Not getting paid..on time.

I'm not sure if this is true, since i never learned about this in my planning class. But if the employer doesn't pay the employee on the amount of days given you can go to WCB and sue them?

my situation is.. i have 2 jobs. I'm quiting the other job and this is my last week there (last day on the 26th)..and i was suppose to get paid on MONDAY;today is wednesday and i haven't gotten my cheque yet. So what should i do?

Re: Not getting paid..on time.

Call up the head office or your manager and ask them what's going on?

Re: Not getting paid..on time.

I did talk to them, and the last thing they said was "the computer's not working" and I get paid with cheques written by the managers themsleves, so i don't know if calling head office would work.

Re: Not getting paid..on time.

calling the head office could probably get them well informed about the correct situation here, they can probably fix the problem by talking to your manager about it etc. but it seems as if the head office wouldn't care or do much for someone whos about to leave.

Re: Not getting paid..on time.

According to the BC Employment Standards Act, you must be paid within 6 days of your final pay if you quit. Call up Employment Standards (not WCB - that's for workplace injury compensation) for more details. Their number is 1 800 663-3316 (they're in Victoria).

BTW, if anyone needs to call ANY ministry of the Provincial Government, you can call Service BC (formerlly Enquiry BC) at 604-660-2421 and ask to be transferred. The call is then not a long distance call, and you won't have to pay long distance fees (especially since the Government Agencies usually have LONG, LONG, LONG phone waiting periods - I was once on hold for about 30 minutes for MSP!!).

good info here, and yes this has nothign to do with WCB. WCB is only an agency for work related injury causing loss time and wages from your inability to continue your prior work.

Re: Not getting paid..on time.

Aw shucks, thanks for the compliment, but the reason I know about them is because I actually work doing payroll (well, actually help out since the one who normally does it is on maternity leave - I actually prefer doing other things)
