Weirdest question ever..

Ok! So I worked at a place in December 06, then up until I think around March 07 they started hiring a bunch of people to start at 6$/hour and I got less shifts, to the point where I got no shifts at all. I was getting 8.25$/hour and the supervisor stopped giving me shifts cuase it was over their budget or something, so then after around I think April 07, they changed supervisors and the new supervior didn't know I worked there becuase I had no shifts.

So technically, I didn't quit, and I wasn't fired. So I haven't been back since April of last year, so I was wondering about my vacation pay.. If I go talk to the current supervisor who has no idea who I am, but they'll probably find paperwork with my name on it, how can I quit? Cause the whole point of 2 weeks is to give them a heads up you're leaving and they can find someone new, but I haven't even been there in almost a year -.-"

So how should I quit? And would I still be able to get my vacation pay? LOL. =[

omg they did soemthgn ismilar to me too and then they jsut terminated me! said i quit!

it never occured to me if you get vacation pay or not cuz when i worked at this place for 1 motnh..i didn't get vacation pay. but when i worke dsomewhere else with my friend (she started in november) and she got vacation pay. anyways, i think you introduce yourself to the managers and let them know that you're an employee but you would like to quit. after the understand your situation, ask them if they still have record of your shifts/paperwork and ask for vacation pay and T4's

Ugh ok, I wasn't totally honest.
When the new manager came, we talked and stuff, and he said he can work out a scheduel for the following week and I should call, but I didn't... which was a bad desicion becuase it showed I didn't care and I'm not responsible, so that's why I'm not sure how to talk to him -.-"

Atleast you got your vacation pay :(
And you can write that you worked there on your resume.
I haven't even putten where I worked on my resume cause theres no end date :@

ohhhh>< that sounds familiar... do they consider you as an employee still?
i would say phone them up first and let them know that you're gunna drop by and want to have a "chat" with them about your position. and then if you have your agenda or w/e with your shifts that you worked show it to them and ask for it.
if you only worked part of last year im not 100% sure if you get vacation pay, but if you worke d the year before, for sure you should have gotten vacation pay back them

edit: tapthatass, you do know that vacation pay will be very little right? cuz its only 4% of how much you made that year:S..

I would just call them and be like
"oh sorry something came up so I couldn't call back.
but anyways I was just wondering about my vacation pay"

- that should get the msg across, since they probz have to ask headoffice etc etc.
and just call back in a day or two. and follow up. and you should have your check within 2 weeks.
because this happened to my boyfriend. but with him he had to call headoffice HIMSELF...

Should I just go and ask if I still work there? And if they say yes yada yada, should I ask if it's possible to start working again? Then after a month I quit and I know I'd get my vacation pay.. lol. But is that better than doing nothing? It's just having to face reality and being embarassed/ashamed talking to the supervisor =[

i say just get it and leave, IMO it looks worst working for a month and then quitting...i would be like wth did she ask to start working again?!

But I probably can't get it.
Someone told me that you have to work atleast once in the month when you want to get your vacation pay? Like if I wanted it in March, I would've had to work in March or something like that. I tried researching to find the rules and stuff for vacation pay, but it doesn't tell you information that has to do with my situation -.-
And by the way, LOL I'll just come out and say that I'm talking about A&W. So it's not like a serious job.

because i know they do that
to keep their empoyee's wages low.

No, it's A&W, lol I said it in the post above yours.
Yeah, it's cause they have a certain amount of money/hours they can't go over, so they use cheaper or on training people to work.
