Lower Back exercises?

I've been trying to tone my lower back for the past few weeks. My upper back is ok, but I can't seem to figure out a way to tone my lower back. It makes me look like I have a flat butt Any ideas?

Re: Lower Back exercises?

dragon boating = hardcore training on your back (: you can do it on dry land too, no equipment needed or anything but it "feels" better, environemtnally if you do it in water

I've been doing a lot of exercises that are meant to target my obliques, but I can't seem to find any change in my lower back. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. It's kind of annoying haha

Re: Lower Back exercises?

if you have a pilates ball, you can do reverse sit ups.

lie on ball on your stomach, feet apart to support yourself (the closer they are together the harder it'll be). hands behind your head and you kinda just go down and up. sorry i don't really know you to describe it... but if you do it it'll make sense. you'll use your lower back when you're balancing yourself while moving up and down.

works great!

Re: Lower Back exercises?

^that does make sense I used to have one of those balls, but I misplaced it years ago. I think it's time to reinvest! Thanks!

I definitely like the exercises that don't require equipment. I don't always have time to go to the gym. This'll be great!

Re: Lower Back exercises?

me too! esp. in the winter time and it's just to depressing to go out and work out. i find that a jump rope, pilates ball, resistance bands, and dumbells are good enough for a home gym

on a side note, exercising your lower back is really important because it balances out the sit-ups that you do. it prevents your abs/ stomach from "sticking out" cause its a stronger muscle (since a lot of people focus on getting ripped) than the lower back. haha, i just learned that yesterday
