Jeans at Urban Planet

So i got this pair of jeans yesterday at Urban Planet. It fitted me quite well, and it was a decent pair of jeans at the cost it was selling for. The problem was when I got home, my mom noticed a strong (kind of plastic) smell from the jeans. Then she started telling me news that she heard about some China manufacturers using marijuana and other not-so-good materials to make clothings (can cause skin cancer etc). The pair of jeans that I bought was made in China. Now I am worried. I noticed the smell too, and I wanted to see if any others have this experience. I guess I should check out other jeans at the store to see if they have the same smell....should I refund the jeans? I never had this problem with jeans purchased from other stores...

Re: Jeans at Urban Planet

plastic smell?? hmm it might be from the plastic bags that they are sealed in, cuz at my store, everything in the store is individually sealed in a plastic wrapping when they get shipped to our store.

Re: Jeans at Urban Planet

i am just worried that the smell is coming from the jean materials itself, and not from other stuff that it came in contact with (such as plastic bags or whatever things it may be)...I am hesitant on washing it right now, because once i wash it, i won't be able to refund the jeans.

It's true that a lot of things nowadays are made in China. At the same time, there are more news coming out about the quality of some of these products. Although it's inevitable not to buy products from China, I am being more cautious now. I guess it is just me getting overworried about the jeans...just thought I check with the shoppers on this forum to see if they had any of this experience...

Re: Jeans at Urban Planet

OMG... One of the pairs I bought from UP smelt like plastic or something funky. It was actually quite strong. The jeans were the pocketless ones in a light blue wash. There wasn't a smell when I purchased them but after I got home, they smelt really strongly... They made other clothes in the same bag smell bad too (bought at different stores). I threw them in the wash and never wore them =S

Wondering where the smell was coming from as well...

Re: Jeans at Urban Planet

Probably just the plastic bag they were in... like food... if you keep them in a ziploc bag for too long, they start tasting like plastic. LOL. No, but seriously... I think just... wash them or something. There's no... plastic... in the ... material. I don't think. Most things are made in China... I've never had a problem with Urban Planet jeans.

Re: Jeans at Urban Planet

^Stitches is from the same compay as UP, so it's not surprising! I ahve 2 jeans from Stitches and they have a STRONG smell... I don't think it smells like plastic though, but plastic doesn't really have a smell to me? I've washed them plenty, but the smell remains.
It sucks because the jeans I've bought from there before doesn't smell... it's the same brand though.

Re: Jeans at Urban Planet

i have left the pair of jeans out on a hanger for a week, hoping that some fresh air would make the smell go away. but the smell still stayed. i ended returning the pair of pants because i did not risk washing it and finding that the smell still remains.
