Is it ever okay to buy fake merchandise?

I personally know this is controversial topic but, just gonna throw it out there to find some feedback =)

I do buy fake items (only jewelry)

jewelry

For example, the cute jewlery at nightmarket (i.e. fake chanel earrings/necklaces, juicy necklaces...) i've bought a few from the nightmarket. I bought it because i liked it even it's a imitation =)
A couple friends of mine bought fake Coach keychains ... and i thought they looked cute. I guess w. buying fake jewelry not alot of people would think "oh it's fake etc..." but with a bag sometimes it's really easy to spot

clothing
i've never bought fake clothing before, i mean i've always wanted a pair of nice designer jeans, but i rather save up money to buy the real ones.

bags/wallet
fake bags are a big no-no for me.. for wallets and bags i've always bought the real thing, i had a friend that bought me a fake LV wallet before, and i didn't even use it once.. i can't stand seeing imitation bag/wallets when i'm out..

So for all your mallvibers it's time to fess up =) j.j
but are you okay w. fakes? i mean to a certain extent i think i'm okay with fakes, as long as you admit to using it, and not bs to people telling them it's real...

Re: Is it ever okay to buy fake merchandise?

buying designer stuff isn't really a big deal to me. just as long as i have clothes to wear,a bag to put my stuff in, and a wallet to put my money/cards then,im fine.

but i did buy one fake item before. but that's it,and i wouldn't even bother saving a lot of money just to buy one thing when i can use it for something important. but that's just my opinion.

oh,by the way when did you become a mod ; )

Re: Is it ever okay to buy fake merchandise?

I don't tend to buy designer things such as: chanel, gucci, etc... I'm more of like a guess person. Anyhow... I don't have a problem with buying some things fake. I always go to the night market and everything there is fake. I don't see what the problen is with buying things like earrings, or something small that is fake. For example: coach cell phone charm. You can buy cheap ones at the night market and they still look pretty.

I however have a problem with people trying to sell fake things and claiming they are real. I also have a problem with little elementary school children buying look-a-like jeans and trying to act older than they are.

if you buy somethign fake and your not ashame of it, then I have no problem. And if you can afford to buy it... heck buy it! I sure would...

Re: Is it ever okay to buy fake merchandise?

when i was young i bought a fake juicy bag from the nightmarket lol. it was cute. only used it a few times. that's about it. i mean when yur a youngin...u don't have a refined taste in clothes or bags...so u settle for less...ie..guess...ae...bbblue...but once u experienced/wore/carried the real deal...u can never go back.

i'm sure buying fake stuff is ethically wrong cuz the real companies are suffering from it. but it seems like most ppl are desensitized to it since there are so many fakes out in public already. but it still doesn't bring me to my knees to buy a fake. i like the real deal. in fact, i'm one of those ppl who snicker at ppl with fake uggs and LV bags.

how is it dishonest if you didnt ask them if it's real or not. Maybe they will tell you the truth. yes sometimes people buy it to fit in with the popular trand, but i think alot of the designer name brands are cute and that's why some may buy it as well... like jeans that have rhinestones on the bum.

oh and like tna racer tanks... it;s like you can buy one from aritiza for $20 or the exact same thing at oldnavy for $8

Re: Is it ever okay to buy fake merchandise?

I've never purchased any designer item thats not authentic. Whenever I want to buy something, I just go to that authorized store that sells it. I've just never thought about buying a designer item anywhere but from the authorized store.

As for how I feel about people carrying off not authentic goods and trying to pass it off as authentic, I think it's simply tacky. It's a misrepresentation of one's honesty. If one feels the need to purchase not authentic goods then you have to question yourself why you feel the need to mask yourself or dress a certain way even if it means purchasing a knock-off product. Bottom line is, it's dishonest. And individuals like these are only fooling themselves. Because those of us who have the real thing can distinguish the difference.

aritzia's beaters are way better. like it's really easy to see the diff in quality. i threw my old navy ones away because they would never stretch back unless u wash them again. with the tna beaters...the material is thicker and comforms to yur body well. not like old navys
