The Bay: Returning cosmetics (Benefit brand)

I purchased a few cosmetics and skincare products from Benefit (at The BAY Oakridge Centre).

The cosmetics, I am very happy with it and love it.

However, for the skincare products (EYECON AND OOH LA LIFT), if didn't work out for me (the dark circles didn't work...).

http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/gp/browse.html/ref=sc_bb_c_8_169082011_10/102-8481905-9844948?ie=UTF8&node=203571011&no=169082011&me=A2C D3UT466CEX4&bcBrand=core&clicked=center-810

Can I return the items back to the original store without the receipt? Benefits website didn't state that to return, you need to have the original receipt. But i'm just wondering if The Bay does it differently? Thank in advance.

Hm, my friend used to work at the Bay, and he said their return policy states that anything can be returned except gift cards and "intimate apparel." I don't know if cosmetics are in that group, or they just mean undies and stuff.

Intimate apparel refers to clothing, so I don't think it would apply to makeup. I would assume that you wouldn't be able to return it, though :\ I could be wrong!

please tell us how it went if you tried to return it. You might want to call The Bay to ask them whether you can refund make-up.

As with everything else, the store has no way of knowing whether you purchased the item from them or from another vendor unless you produce your original receipts. Unless the sales associate that helped you remembers you. Otherwise you're out of luck.

No, you're not out of luck. Although I am not sure if there's an exclusion on cosmetics (which I will find out for you today), The Bay is FINE on returning items without the receipt according to the general return policy. It will be refunded onto a Gift Card (aka store credit) at last sale price.

I only used a little. Not even 3/4... so there's a lot left

Thanks! I asked my coworker this morning and she told me that she once returned an item (a Clinique toner from Sears) and it broke her face out, and she took it back (to the original store) and returned it and got her money back (without receipt).. She learned from the SA that they return it to the headquarters Clinique for reimbursement (so basically they don't have a loss?)... So hopefully this works the same for the Bay.

I don't mind if its a gift card.. just as long as those two products don't end up piling in the washroom..never ending up being used again since it doesn't work.

I used to work at the bay in cosmetics. It willl be put on a Gift Card as a credit. You should have no problem if you explain to them what happened.
