Where's the best place to get your money changed?

Hey guys and gals! So I'm heading to the states on wednesday and I was wondering where would be the best place to get my CDN cash converted to USD. I was gonna go to the bank but I thought I'd ask around first. I dont want to use my credit card because honestly, it cant take any more swiping hahaha (yikes!)

So if anyone knows where the best place to go is i'd really appreciate the info. Thanks!

Re: Where's the best place to get your money changed?

I get my money converted by my bro who works at a bank, but otherwise I usually don't go to the bank because the rates aren't too good. Try going to Metrotown. There's this place underneath the foodcourt next to "house of knives" I think or around that area....anyways, it's called J & M & Jewellery. They have good rates on converting CAD to USD. Check it out =)

Re: Where's the best place to get your money changed?

We go down to the States often and this is the best place to exchange money that we've found . Theres 2 locations in Vancouver and 1 in Richmond. Usually I would go to my own bank but even the bank teller told me she goes here instead. No fees at all for cash exchanges.

Re: Where's the best place to get your money changed?

I go to the Casino just before Bellingham (silver something) - last time they were giving 94% - they always give the same or just 1% below the actual rate you look up at

I changed $120 Canadian and got $112.81 USD :)

no fees no ridiculously low exchange rate either - best exchange rate i have come across

Re: Where's the best place to get your money changed?

they ATM will usually charge you plus your bank charges you an extra $1.50 if not more plus they don't give great exchange rates

but you have to check what your bank charges as it varies

as for machines i like WAMU - they don't charge extra

when you go to US bank or others it will usually warn you that there is an extra charge of $2 or $1.50 or whatever it might be and ask if you want to proceed
