good samaritan

So I am watching something on ABC Primetime, channel 12 right now...

It is about what you would do in certain situations...
Right now they are talking about being a good samaritan...

This thread is asking you guys what have you done to help others out?

For example:

buying the homeless food
saving a cat from a tree

Please post and share your stories!

Re: good samaritan

well I was downtown vancouver one day.
and there was like a family of homeless people...
well it wasn't a family...
but there was an older guy.. two younger girls.
and they were holding one of those signs that said hungry etc etc
so i got them all McD

and apprently they hitchhiked from Calgary and they're stuck here
I wish i could help them more. but financially that's all i could do.

Re: good samaritan

A homeless man downtown said he was freezing and asked me for some change so he could buy something hot to drink. I bought him a large hot chocolate and when I brought it out to him, he looked surprised and said, "Could I have the money instead?" lol how sad

A good samaritan moment of mine was when I was standing in line at cinnzeo (droool) and this little girl didn't have enough money to buy a cinnamon bun. she looked soooo sad so I bought her one and a box to take home. Her mom probably wasn't too happy with all the sugar but the little girl was beaming :)

something similar happened to me.. i just went out for sushi and was walking back to the skytrain station when i saw this homeless person. i asked him if he wanted it and he asked what it was. i told him it was sushi and he said he didn't like it (okay i know some people don't like raw fish, but if you're starving you can just eat the rice). anyways his buddy or another homeless person overheard and was like, "i'll take it!" so he took it and ate it...

i personally don't give homeless people money. i would rather buy them something. i kind of get annoyed when you do something for them but they ask for more....

Re: good samaritan

Same here I don't even give out chump change anymore. You can see who really needs it and who doesn't when you give them food, drinks, clothing or whatever. Go us good samaritans!

I know how to do CPR but I would never actually do it on a homeless person. You never know what kind of diseases they would have. What if they have HIVE/AIDS and I just happen to have a cold sore in my mouth or a cut from biting my cheek or something?

LOL well yah of course you learn to assess the situation before you perform any first aid procedures.. and besides u have no idea how many people refuse first aid help
