Chura Hair Salon

I was planning on going to Chura. Do you think I'm able to make a appointment for Sunday afternoon?

Which Chura do you guys recommend going?(I heard there was 2 locations)

Which one has better hairstylist?

Which hairstylist do you usually get to cut you're hair and do they do a good job and you're satisifed with the result?(girls/guys)

Basically looking for a hairstylist that will have a good idea what looks good and what not, for a guy. Because I'm thinking of just letting them take over and cut a style that looks good and suits me. Any recommendations?

TIA!

Re: Chura Hair Salon

I'm pretty sure they're all booked up for this Sunday, so I'd suggest making an appointment sometime during next week or next weekend. I like the Howe location, personally. And that's all I know, haha.

Re: Chura Hair Salon

So I booked a week in advance and went there today. It was a bit on the rough side as we started since the person I got(Kenji) was not really fluent in English, so I had to get the person to translate some stuff haha. After like 30min of deciding and talking the haircut finally started and the final look was great! It look's good and i'm pretty happy on how it turned out, because I was pretty worried cause I thought he'd misunderstand and stuff~

I would totally recommend Chura and especially the guy Hairstylist named KENJI he took a long time working on my hair and is VERY nice as well.

Re: Chura Hair Salon

can somebody tell me the difference between getting a hair cut from a japanese hair salon opposed to a chinese salon? i always get my hair cut at hair studio. i've tried various other places (non-asian) and nobody can cut my hair right.

well.. if you go downtown or like richmond or any other place filled with asian and their hair has some kinda funk or like back home look most likely they got their hair done at a asian hair salon.. personally i think the japanese has better styles than chinese (btw im chinese) maybe because they take their time? i dont really know but there is still somewhat of a diference ^w^

Re: Chura Hair Salon

i'm happy where with my hair the way it is now but it's cut the typical 'asian' way. i guess it's expected that you'll look like everyone else if you get your hair cut at an asian salon. they go with what's trendy and i find it high maintenance. i just want something different and i find there are less japanese salons around than chinese. and i swear off going to suki's toni&guy etc... they don't know how to cut asian hair (mine at least) when i was in london, i went to vidal sassoon and the master stylist turned me away... just told me to grow out my hair but when they cut my friend's hair she didn't look anything special to me. my point is, cost doesn't mean anything if you don't know how to cut a person's hair right it's pointless.

Re: Chura Hair Salon

i just booked an appointment with chura's the other day and they said they wouldn't be able to see me until june 3rd! they must be pretty damn good if you can't get an appointment within a week. i'm thinking about getting a digital perm. but my hair is so straight and pretty. i just really want to change it up for the summer. i'm so bored of having straight hair and i always change hair colours so i'm hoping the perm will come out pretty.

has anyone had a perm at chura's before??

Re: Chura Hair Salon

You normally should book 2-3 weeks in advance. Try to decide your haircut prior to your appointment. Bring a photograph that illustrates the various angles. For color, they should have a book containing all of the hair dye samples.

I'll admit I have been there twice. One a great experience, the other quite the opposite. Make sure you tell the receptionist you prefer a stylist that can speak a bit of english...it makes all the difference...
