Re: what to wear for hot yoga

It is really hot at hot yoga.
The first time I went I wasn't too sure what to wear either.
A lot of people were wearing cotton tank tops and yoga pants but the cotton gets weighed down.
I bought a creme colored yoga top that was the same fabric as my yoga pants.
It was heaven.. it looked polyestery but it had none it it.
It keeps you feeling dry, and that some how was the most important thing.
You sweatt aaa lottt at hot yoga so I suggest something that is more along the lines of the fabric of your yoga pants...
And try to go for something thats "Quick Dry".
You can't go wrong with it.
To be honest with you I ended up getting my yoga pants from Joe for 12 dollars and the top was like on clearence for 5.94.
It was actually super good looking and flattering.

Re: what to wear for hot yoga

Thats definetly cute.
Make sure its absorbant but not laggy and it doesn't weigh you down.
It's like jumping in a pool with you're clothes on.
NOT FUN.
Well the yoga's fun but the weighing down of clothes isn't.
I don't think I could emphasize on Quick dry enough!!

Re: what to wear for hot yoga

You can wear a bathing suit or get some stuff from Karma clothing. I find Lululemon doesnt make stuff for hot yoga unless its the bra tops. You need some shorts and a bra top. You need something that is going to be okay when it gets wet so it doest feel too soggy or heavy.

I have seen guys wear them but I think on the hot yoga sites they mention that a bathing suit is suggested. I wouldnt wear underwear either! Unless you bring an extra pair. I made that mistake on my first class. My shorts and shirt were soaked!

Re: what to wear for hot yoga

Yaletown Yoga offers classes that are lower in temperature for the beginners. I find that I like it hotter after being used to the heat. When it was abit lower it felt cold!

Re: what to wear for hot yoga

^^
ask your yoga studio which brand they rent out to beginners, and see if they sell them. or you can try to look for the brand that they use in a sports store it might be cheaper

lululemon has yoga mats as well

Re: what to wear for hot yoga

Hey at hot yoga I just put a bath sheet on top of my yoga mat so I don't slip.
Although it does shift a bit regardless.
But yeah I found the towel to be the best I've used other stuff but don't forget that you're going to be laying down on it and stuff too right.
I would def recommend a bathsheet or a big enough towel.
=)

I believe you can get these microfiber towels at Lululemon to put over your mat or just use a bath towel. the microfiber is better as it wrings out easily and is lighter when wet. There are also Bikram mats which is a terry cloth covering on topped mat. My concern is that its hard to clean and you would really need to dry it properly to make sure no bacteria forms. I think you can find those at the Bikrams studios exclusively.

Re: what to wear for hot yoga

Those ones at Bikrams are really hard to cleann!!!
Don't use them.. its like a bacteria breeding ground..
I've never heard of the microfibre one.. but make sure you get a big one to
actually cover your mat.
Sometimes a simple bath towel doesnt work out.
Besides you can get a bath sheeet at walmart for like 6 dollars and keep it for hot yoga..
Its inexpensive and easy to clean.

I don't cos sweating and bleeding at the same time is just too nasty
Some types of yoga dont rec that you do yoga during that time of the month cos inverted postures interfere with the flow or they tell you to skip that posture. But just do what you feel is right, if you feel too crummy then for sure dont do any yoga.

hi,I see people overdress for bikram the 1st time always.Shakti wear makes great hot yoga clothes ,they have a website. The bikram studio in Courtenay sells it as well as the microfibre towels.I think the studio in Victoria does as well.lululemon has good bra tops and I too found a pair of Joe shorts for 14.00.
