quitting my job

So I have decided to quit my current job mainly because it's not that great of a job. my manager basically overwork all of us with little pay. Obviously, i wouldn't mention that in my resignation letter. But that means i need an excuse! I mentioned in my letter saying how i can't continue working because i can't handle work and school at the same time and how i want to focus on school ONLY, but the problem is.. it's not that great of an excuse because SUMMER'S HERE! my manager is pretty nosy, so i'm pretty sure he'll ask me a lot of questions about me resigning but i wouldn't know what to say if he asked/said "u won't have to worry about school during the summer" or like "can't you work once a week?" i just wanna QUIT! i never knew how hard it is to quit, all my other employees have warned me that quitting at this place is hard. most people end up staying because the manager would lure them back to working, eg: better pay, better schedule/hours. I don't want a better pay, i don't need better hours, i just wanna get outta here! ..so my question would be, what's a good excuse to use to quit? i don't wanna completely lie and say i got a new job, because i haven't yet..

i don't think the manager would believe that.. like if she goes for a vacation,he might say "couldn't you work when you come back?"

OR just say you can't work when you have school and in the summer say you have summer school?

Re: quitting my job

just say that you need a break from working...like need to rest and have time for leisure and other stuff. or like..how about you might be going somewhere in the summer? if the reason you don't want to work is because they make you overwork with little pay, then when you tell him you wanna quit just say something like you demand or expect salary xxxx and work only xxx days a week? then employer will be like you're kidding and maybe don't want to keep you at all XD

and believe me, staying longer for "better offers" won't do you any good. Besides, you're not quitting cuz of the pay right but because of school work? if you hate it so much now, you will still hate it even if you stay longer with higher pay

Re: quitting my job

Why do you even need an excuse, if you want to quit, your employer can't say 'no' unless there's some sort of legal contract (which i doubt it is since it sounds like a part time job). Or say it's "personal reasons that i would rather not discuss" or something.

Re: quitting my job

Tell him that you are planning going overseas for the summer. You will be gone the entire summer with the chance that you may stay where you are going to study.
