Different places will have different procedures. Some places will require you to fill out an application and some don't. Sometimes they will want your resume AND want you to fill out an application, so just bring your resume wherever you go and always ask for the manager.

Re: dropping off resume/application forms

For the places that require an application, it's a good idea to check out their website to see if they have it up, print it and fill it out at home before going to apply. That way, you won't have to feel rushed or unprepared. But regardless, it's always a good idea to check out the company's website and get some background information about the company before applying anyway. =)

Re: dropping off resume/application forms

it takes a lot of time filling out applications if they give you one. sometimes it's best to get them all at once and sit in the food court and fill them out or even take them home and bring them back the next day. that will also give you a chance to ask if the manager is there or what day they will be in. from my own experience make sure you bring all your information. for references they usually ask about previous or current jobs: name, company, manager name, address, phone number, years/times worked, reason for quiting, etc... also for education. i remember back when i didn't have a cell phone and my resume was a beginners trail... i would get so frustrated that i didn't have the phone numbers or address of the company.

ALSO... bring a pen =)

Re: dropping off resume/application forms

do they care what you're wearing? because in the past i've usually worn what i would normally wear to a interview when i'm dropping off my application..
my mom takes in the resumes and applications where she works and she told me if she sees a person wearing something casual she'll just tell them they're not hiring. the job is nothing fancy or high paying either.
but i'm not sure if other employers are like this too?

I think to be on the safe side, interview attire. Sometimes it looks a bit ridiculous, but better safe than sorry. You can only apply once within a certain period of time after all. The job does not need to be fancy or high paying for you to dress respectfully - and that's what it's all about really, showing respect and that you're taking it seriously. Though, depending on the situation and type of work environment you're applying for, you may want to tone it down a bit or kick it up a notch. Just use your own discretion, really.
