Accessories Stores

Hey, do you guys think it'll be too late to look for a job in early July? Especially since I want to ask for 9/hr? Does anyone know places who start people at 9/hr? I really want to work at a small place... or like an accessories place like Claires or Ardenes =T Oh, I'm 18 by the way =] Short Asian girl though, so I look 5 years younger =_=;

I'm a biiiiiit picky cause I've had quite a few jobs already for quite a while soo yea =T If worse comes to worse, I'll probably not be so picky, hahaha!

Can anyone give me the working conditions at the following stores?

Claires: I kinda want to work at Claires but I'm worried about piercing ears =T
Icings: I heard the manager is mean from a friend of mine who wanted to return something =T
Aldo: My friend works here, but I see a lot of the workers wearing makeup and sometimes heels and stuff, and I'm not kind of girl X_x;; I like dressy clothing, but I don't like wearing makeup, I hope it isn't a requirement!
Ardenes: I haven't heard anything, but I reeeeeeally want to work here!

Any other accessories shops or small shops that I'm missing?

Please and thank you~~~ =]

You should try Mimosa, everytime I pass by the one in Brentwood, they always have a "hiring" sign

Um... yeah.... I also take the bus to metrotown... I was just wondering where it was so I'll know how long it'll get there from my house. I just googled it and
From my hosue to metrotown, it takes me half and hour
From my house to Brentwood it'll take and hour and a half
Do you get what I mean?

Re: Accessories Stores

I have a few friends that work at Aldo and they are very strict. The manager at PC ( i think, it might be at metro though) is very anal about fashion and they have rules on what you need to wear. You can only wear flats once a week and if you wear a skirt or a dress you have to wear it with flats. You are to only wear heels from Aldo and you always have to look really really goood. I was thinking about applying there untill i was informed about all these rules.

I thought the shut down, every time i walk by there its something else, but working at Mimosa sucks. I believe there's a few threads about it and once again they tend to hire pretty looking girls...

Re: Accessories Stores

I guess I shouldn't be so picky then! I really just want a small place that doesn't have a strict dress code.... especially ones where you have to wear makeup (is there stores like that? =T)

i work at metrotown aldo accessories.
i used to work at robson, but i transferred over here a couple months ago.

i love aldo, the job is great.
and i don't think you're talking about my manager because she's not that bad about what we wear.
we just have to wear dark denim and wear heels when possible.
but i rarely ever do because i hate standing around in heels all day long. at the end of the day, my feet are ACHING.

and by the way summerheaven, i get paid pretty good :)
and there is something about an "aldo image" that we have to uphold. ie, we have to look trendy and "nice" all the time. if you don't wear makeup, it's okay.. as long as you are trendy and you love accessories!

I worked at Christine/Ardene. You start at 8.00/hr, unless you're hired at 3rd key/assitant manager/manager. You're not allowed(at least when I was there, but alot of the girls did anyway) to wear yoga pants, runners, thong sandals, jeans, anything too logo-y and you've got to be wearing at least 5 pieces of jewelery.
Hmm isn't X-cetera part of Ardene now? I've seen that it closed down, and now it's reopened at Metrotown with the same things Ardene holds. As far as I know, X-cetera used to be part of the same company as Bentley.

Hmm Ardene use to be a much smaller store before they reopened the huge one with clothing! They don't require you were make up, but they try to urge you to at least wear some lipgloss or something.
