Jobs that pay $18 + starting?
Does anyone know of some jobs that pay $18/h + starting? I am looking for jobs for my boyfriend because he said he will be coming back in August and if he finds a well paying job here he will stay longer. He is currently not in Vancouver and his work pays really well. He went to school for his work, but will most likely not be going back to school this year.
Hopefully there are some suggestions you can give me. I am currently looking on craigslist as well =) Btw... I know $18/h + starting may sound alot but it will be alot different then what he is making. I have no idea if there are even jobs like that that exist will little to no experience. Anyone know about construction? Thanks in Advance! |

what did he study in post-secondary? $18 sounds like a wage for something you do out of your profession like programmer, designer and such.
You can also try the government jobs (border, icbc, office work and what not) otherwise.

yeah lots of my friends work at sawmills and they make a lot of money... but the thing is, the job is very dangerous. there is the possibility of losing an arm every day. |

Re: Jobs that pay $18 + starting?
I think it might be a good idea (it's just my opinion..) for him to go back to studies then look for the jobs. Unless someone in that professional area is hiring.
"He went to school for his work, but will most likely not be going back to school this year." I don't get this sentence. You mean he worked at his school but not going back to study right? Then just work at another place that does whatever he was doing...

Re: Jobs that pay $18 + starting?
^ It's hard as heck getting that job, but it is true they pay well. My dad has been one for awhile. It can be very labor intensive. Actually, many well paying jobs are labor intensive but you have to be willing to get down and dirty for it. It's hard work. Actually, I think there's going to be a huge shortage of labor workers in the next few years as the baby boomers begin to retire. People our age just don't like getting their hands dirty, plain and simple. They want white collar jobs (accountants, lawyers, businessmen).

If he's athletic and likes sports or kids, community centers pay like $16-18 starting. I have friends who have been working at Sunset Community Center for years now. If you're interested, I can ask if there are any openings. If you work for VSB, they'll pay you really well.

Re: Jobs that pay $18 + starting?
oh i guess i will tell you that he is a hands on person. he doesn't like a boring office type job. he's into fixing and repairing things. he's not a person who plays sports or has really talked about children lately. he has been working in a male dominate field (but it really doesn't matter) for the last 2 years? he can work long hour 10-12h/day and can do night shifts.

Telus.
I believe the starting pay is $17 but i'm not sure, it might've changed. They're really good to work for because they're unionized. As far as i know they have alot of perks (OT, full coverage, etc.) |
