Re: Where do you work?

hahah that woulld be funny if we worked together bombshell! -.-

my interview is at the jacob in pc. i really hope i get the job but i'm so nervous about it! i've only gone through 2 job interviews in my whole life haha. one for the pne which wasn't really anything and one for costa blanca. my interviwer said she would most likely hire me but she had to talk to her manager first and that she would call me back. she never did, and i never made the effort to call back a week later ='[

Re: Where do you work?

I'm the head cashier at a marketplace IGA. We don't get any discounts or anything though, but I make decent money for working in a grocery store. I'm in school too and trying to save up money so I'm thinking about getting a new/second job though and I'm considering applying at starbucks. I know what the benefits there are but if any of you work there, what is the atmosphere like and what is the pay like? (eg, what do you start at as a barista? shift supervisor? and how many hours do you work to get a raise, etc.)

The longest job I've ever held was at Starbucks. All my friends work there now, and I don't. XD And yeah, we all pretty much love(d) it there. It depends from store to store, but overall a really positive and fun work environment.

Baristas start at $9, Shift Supervisors start at $10.25, and tips on top of that, though the amount depends on how busy your store is. Scheduling is quite flexible as well. You get a review every 6 months, and depending on how you do, you can get a 1.5% or 3% raise.

Re: Where do you work?

Thanks for the info shadesofgrey! There's a starbucks in the same plaza as the iga that I work at and I go there all the time and know a number of the employees and everyone is really nice so I think it would be fun and a nice change! I'm also attracted to the fact that it is pretty flexible since I am in school.

I worked there when I was still in high school, and they let me work 1-2 shifts a week. Though, like most other places, when you first start, they tend to give you more shifts. They mostly look for flexible availability though, so even if you can only work a limited number of shifts/hours, it's better if you give them as many possible time slots as you can.

Since they already know you, you probably have quite a good chance of getting hired. =)

Thanks, yeah I hope so. I know the assistant manager fairly well which is a good thing and it is possible she would do my interview(s) but she isn't the one that makes the final decisions about hiring. I plan on waiting until I'm done finals (just a few more weeks) so that I am free more and can be available when they need me, and I have pretty much set shifts at my other job which helps, and I want to work as much as possible so I can save for tuition (and still have a little to spend on clothes too!)
