Makeup Application Classes

so my cousin is turning 15 soon and is starting to experiment with makeup and came to me for advice. but the thing is, i don't put makeup on very often, and i'm certainly no expert!

is there anywhere i can take her to learn how to apply makeup (and learn a few things myself)? i know there's tons of articles about applying makeup but i think it's gonna way way better if i bring her somewhere who will actually show her (and me) about makeup basics. just looking for something like consultations or one day classes

i'm thinking of getting this as a birthday gift to her

thank you!

Re: Makeup Application Classes

i think it's more of a trail an error when you first start to put on makeup. the best thing is to do a little bit at a time. don't go all out and do your face, eyes, cheeks, lips, etc... unless you make it really natural. if she has never wore makeup before and she is planning on wearing foundation it might look funny to her in the beginning. i rememeber when i was fooling around wtih my sister and i put foundation on her face it looked really weird because i wasn't use to her wearing anything.

Re: Makeup Application Classes

definitely trial and error. i remember when i started using makeup daily. i think it was 13-14 years old... haha ew. those were the days! eyeliner on top and bottom. now, i just stick to the eyeshadows and basics (ie. foundation, blush, lipgloss, etc)

and there are tons of videos on youtube showing how to apply makeup.

Re: Makeup Application Classes

Beautymark in Yaletown offers a One on One Make Up Lesson. It's $65 per hour (one hour should be enough i guess). I've never done it but the ladies there are very awesome.

Re: Makeup Application Classes

you can always go to mac or benefit or other cosmetic counters at the bay. they'll usually teach you how to use the products and which ones are good for you for the look that you're going for. it's basically free.. but it's nice to buy a few things from them. lols.

i know they had a chanel make up application event at the bay at oakridge centre last week. they usually have those kinds of events every few weeks.

Re: Makeup Application Classes

I think MAC offers classes but I'm not sure... this girl on CL was selling all her MAC make-up from her MAC course or something.
