Removing beauty spots safely and effectively?

Anyone know of any places where I can get rid of some beauty spots safely and effectively, without any scars or blemishes afterwards? I am planning to check out a dermatologist on this, but I'd thought that I post this question up (in case someone have good recommendations).

I heard that the best way is to get them lasered off.

Re: Removing beauty spots safely and effectively?

I heard some stories that if done improperly, pits can form on the part where the beauty spot has been removed (kinda like craters on a moon, if you know what I mean --- hope this is a good enough analogy). I wonder if laser will cause this problem at all...

Re: Removing beauty spots safely and effectively?

Taila, I had a couple little spots lasered, and we actually do get little indents in the skin- that's because when they laser, they kinda.. burn off the skin (kinda freaky i know) but the person i went to told me that with proper care, the skin evens out over time (many months though )

Re: Removing beauty spots safely and effectively?

I've done it before. It kinda stung when they lazered it off..but it only lasts 1 second at the longest.
Unfortunetly..not all of them healed completly perfectly. There's a bit of uneven skin if you look closely on mine. =/

Re: Removing beauty spots safely and effectively?

my bro got it lasered about 4-5 years ago. theres still a scar and its slightly lighter than his skin color. yeah you should see a dermatologist before you get it done. some people cant handle it. see what your skin type can handle.

Re: Removing beauty spots safely and effectively?

i've had a few moles removed from my face before ......it wasn't really laser though ......kinda more like electrolysis (sp?). it was just a quick few seconds zap on the surface of the skin where the mole is & after a week or two new skin grows and the mole just falls off. some moles have deeper roots & you'll have to go back and zap it again if it doesn't fall off the first time. it was quite fun actually . i like it better now, the face appears more clean-looking without all those lil black spots all over the face.

Yeah, I've heard of that too. Unfortunately, they cannot do anything if the mole is over a certain size (like several of mine that I've had since birth). I think it has to do with the fact that they are worried that the mole may actually be cancerous. Definitely check out a dermetologist first. It's your skin, and you'll have to live in it for the rest of your life!!

Re: Removing beauty spots safely and effectively?

i've gotten it done twice already for various things
like freckles, it fricken hurt like getting whipped in the face for like a second. but they didn't leave any indents or scars on my face.
if the spots take up a substantial sized area, but like it's not that dark, dermatologists sometimes just prescribe a whitening cream for you to put on the spots- it takes longer and more patience but it's cheaper and less invasive.
