Re: Summer Job Advise Please (Aritzia)

imo, the better your availability, the higher the likelihood of getting hired.

however, if you tell them off the bat that you want 40+ hours i think that hurts your application/interview because it comes off that you need the hours and are dependent on the job for income (whether this may be true or not). as retail shifts usually last around 6 hours (from my experience), it is unlikely that you will be able to work over 40 hours, unless you work 7 days a week.

for aritzia - i didn't have any work experience prior to applying there and got hired. so i definitely think you should go for it! good luck with your job search!

i actually just got offered a job at aritzia, they are definitely hiring right now so go for it.

i had to decline because right when they called me, i already had a full time job. i guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Re: Summer Job Advise Please (Aritzia)

40+ hours is full-time, but in retail environment I highly doubt you'll get even 40 hours unless you are part of management. If this is your first job, don't be too picky just go flood your mall with resumes in as many stores that you are interested in for work. Experience is a plus, but its also all about your attitude and how well you present yourself. Again, don't be too specific and picky with where you want to work your first time around. Money is money =) goodluck.

sorry i didn't realize you quoted me

the interview went well. i was interviewed for the metrotown location.

they asked me a lot of different questions. they basically had 3 pages of questions to ask you; i think it was background questions, customer service questions and behavior questions. my interview took 1 hour.

it was questions like, "describe your style," "name one thing you didn't like on your last job," "how do you keep up with trends in fashion," "how will you prevent theft in the store," "why do you want to work at aritzia," "what brands do you know from aritzia," "what does customer service mean to you," "when did you go out of your way for a customer," "how will you adapt to the environment of aritzia," "how do you handle a hard to deal customer." imo, it will come in handy if you have retail experience because a lot of questions i asked were based on my last job.

that's all i really remember, but one question that really stumped me was when she asked me to sell her water. luckily, i thought about it and she said she was sold :)

also, they also require you to work at different locations each month. they're called "floater" shifts. when you train, you are also required to go to different locations like park royal and richmond each training shift.

i hope all that information helped :)

Re: Summer Job Advise Please (Aritzia)

Thanks lianat, I'm planning to apply sometime this weekend. It seems like you need a lot of retail experience. Im just curious how you sold a bottle of water and how you said you keep up with trends of fashion. Did they ask you any background information about the company? and park royal is so far =.= ... thanks again ^^

Re: Summer Job Advise Please (Aritzia)

your welcome :D

i just said that aritzia not only cares about fashion but they believe in a healthy lifestyle; thus, they sell their own brand of water. i also elaborated on the water bottle itself and said how it can be re-used around the house, ie. decoration, or a jewelery case (for bracelets and bangles).

i said i keep up with trends of fashion by reading magazine and people watching.

umm, they didn't ask me any background information about the company. just pretty much the brands they carry which is tna, talula, talula babaton, sevens, dvb, cheap monday, wilfred.. etc
