Going to Vancouver!

Hey there Vancouver Mallvibers!

I'm making a trip down to Vancouver for a week with a couple of my girlfriends!
Do you guys have any suggestions on good places we should check out?
We only have a week so we don't want to waste any time looking around! haha
  • best places to shop! - metrotown, robson..
  • food/drinks/restaurants that are a "must try"
  • hot clubbing spots
  • places to see - golden gate bridge, stanley park, harbour, any beaches?
I just want to see and experience your beautiful city ;))) I'm so excited! Eeee!! haha

Re: Going to Vancouver!

If it's a sunny day, definitely shop on Robson St. I looove shopping on Robson on a sunny day. And if it starts to rain, (which it often does in Vancouver) Pacific Centre is pretty close to Robson. PC has a huge multilevel Holt Renfrew to shop at which was renovated recently. Metrotown is pretty big but not as big as West Edmonton Mall. It's okay.

And as for restaurants, there are a few revolving restaurants but I've never eaten at them. There's a restaurant at the top of Grouse Mountain that you go up to in a gondola. But I've never been there either. lol. Everyone has been to Plush at least once to go clubbing. It's very asian. And I've heard that Vancouver girls have the reputation of being bitchiest at clubs. I don't know why though, I'm nice! :)

Enjoy your stay!!

Re: Going to Vancouver!

as for beaches, you should definitely go to Stanley Park or English bay (They are connected). If weather permits, bike or rollerblade around the seawall!! - there are many shops around stanley park that rent these. It's SO much fun! And the view is awesome.

If you're gonna shop on robson, there are plenty of restaurants in the downtown core .
Robson: Joe Fortes (seafood), Cafe de Medici (italian), Cin Cin (italian), Tropika (Malaysian)
Denman: Yoshi Sushi (sushi), Cafe de Paris (French)

just to name a few.. =-) welcome to vancouver.. and enjoy your stay!!!!

Ha ha I think she meant the Lions Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is located in San Francisco.

To see what attractions our city offers, check this out:

Re: Going to Vancouver!

english bay beach at sunset time is fun

grab a latte and enjoy the scene - usually crowds of people hang out at dusk

south granville is fun for shopping on an afternoon - zebra club is good (clothing store)

west 4th is becoming as trendy as robson with mavi jeans, roots, lululemon etc all opening up there and some good local stores - hard to find parking but great area for shopping

clubbing is mainly on granville street - its insane on weekends - get down early to avoid lineups

gastwon has some good clubs too and is becoming trendy with new shops (a new fluevog shoes just opened) and there are a number of funly little stores selling some high priced items

Re: Going to Vancouver!

I personally have never been a fan of Wild Coyote... I don't really feel the crowd and atmosphere there. Some other clubs you should hit up are Caprice, Aubar, 686 and Plush.

Steveston Village in Richmond = best fish and chips and ice cream.

You should try Sunday Brunch at the Pan Pacific Hotel. It's about $45/person but it's soo good and it's fun if you go with a lot of people.

There's still snow up in the mountains, so you can go to Whistler or Cypress to go boarding/skiing.
