i don't think youll be able to go to calgary and edm in 2 days there and back. Calgary is an alright city, but don't go to Edmonton unless you really must see the west edm mall, cuz there really isn't anythign else other than that. Their downtown section is like 4 blocks.

Re: Road Trip Ideas

Or if you enjoy wine, do the tour through Kelowna area. It's amazing - I did a bunch of the wineries in Sept.

Re: Road Trip Ideas

I was thinking about going to Portland this coming summer, but I heard that there's not much to see other than the no tax shopping.

I've had 2 trips the past 2 years: Calgary & Edmonton last year to visit a friend, and Kamloops this past summer for my friends' wedding... :)

Re: Road Trip Ideas

If you wanna go now, go to Portland!

In the summer, go to Tofino for sure! It's about a 3 hour drive after you get off the ferry at Nanaimo I think.

Re: Road Trip Ideas

I went to Tofino this past summer. It was beautiful! I'm just wondering what there is to do in the Winter time?

Re: Road Trip Ideas

Tofino - nice, but better in the summer (since we stayed next to the beach, even in the middle of August, the mornings were dewy & cold) but if you go to the beach early in the morning you can find sand dollars on the shoreline. Pretty good waves to try surfing.

Vegas - would be fun.....plus its not cold there, though its cheaper to get a package & fly, rather than drive down there.

Whistler - go snowboarding/skiing .... however it's expensive especially the cost of food.
Victoria - eh....boooring.......

Re: Road Trip Ideas

if u had more than 2 days, i would suggest driving down to San Fran with a group of friends. i did that last summer, me & 3 friends rented a van. total driving time from vancouver to san fran was 16hrs, so each person drives for 4hrs (we were very fair! =) lots to do in san fran, did the alcatraz tour, visit jellybelly factory (yummy!), shopping of course, lotsa beautiful sights & scenery like the golden gate bridge, full house(s), trolley trains. we also went to visit the wine countries Sonoma & Napa Valley. It was really relaxing, sample alot of wines & went on a hot air balloon ride too. would love to go back their soon!!
