off the freaking wall

I went to off the wall the other day to buy a pair of Dorinhas that I had seen previously. I had seen them there for 24.99 and I was wowed by the price unfortunetly I had run out of money that day. Two days later I went back and decided to go see if those jeans were still there since the sale was still on.

I walk into the store, try on the jeans again and I loved them so I took them to the cash. The tag still said 24.99. I gave the girl the jeans and she scans them they end up saying 59.99. Well the tag said 24.99 so the girl she was such a sweetheart asked the girl working the cash next to her if she could do anything.

The girl looked at me, looked at the jeans again and said no they\'re 59.99. She told me she was the manager, ripped off the 24.99 tag and accused me of sticking it on there. Then pulled out several pairs of jeans that they had taken the 24.99 tags off of so it now said 59.99. I was flaberghasted I\'ve never been accused like that before.

So I get angry, I\'m kind of short tempered but I have an odd sympathy for girls who work in retail stores because I understand it\'s a tough job. So I held in my anger for a bit and then I got so mad. So I asked her for her name to follow this up and she went red and said why? I said I wanted to follow this up, and then she says to me \"Talk to my manager please\".

There I am like what? I thought you said that you were the manager? The manager appologized for her behavior but I mean that was the worst experience I have had in a long time. I\'ve always had problems shopping at off the wall, they have always been rude and snobbish. But I have never been accused by someone for something like that and been lied to.

But it happened in Metrotown, the girls who work there are absolutly rude and snobbish. There only one decent person working in that entire store and that was this flip girl with brownish red hair. It was amazing what goes on there.

Re:off the freaking wall

omfg. ok what i have to say is:
from my past experiences, whatever they stick on the tag, is whatever the price is. i went to a store once and the tagged price was 19 bucks. i went to the cashier, it scanned 24, but they cant do anything about it because it was tagged 19, so i paid that amount.

that\'s some pretty crappy service you got there. and it took them 2 days to realize it was the wrong price?! thats real effed up.

Re:off the freaking wall

i can understand how they could think sum1 stuck the tag on themselves cuz alotta ppl do that but if there were other pairs of the same pants with that price on them obviously you didnt change it urself. i always have problems at off the wall to...i love the clothes they sell but i dont really wanna give them my business if they are going to be bitches to me

Re:off the freaking wall

holy that was some terrible customer service you got!!!
At my work (i work at the GAP), even if it\'s not supposed to be that price, we still give the customer whatever price it says on the tag

Re:off the freaking wall

Legally, they can only charge you what price it got tagged. So if all those jeans were tagged $29.99, they have to give it to you at that price. You can\'t just tag one price and charge another (unless it\'s lower but then who would argue!) even if it\'s one employee\'s labelling mistake.

Re:off the freaking wall

Yeah I looked into the whole head office thing
And they have no contact number those types of things.
Like comments and complaints but I\'m going to this other number.
If anyone knows what it is I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Re:off the freaking wall

By law they have to give it to you for the price listed on the tag, regardless if they switched the tag, unless you see them switch it. it is considered false advertising and you can argue that you want it for that price because that\'s what it is listed at.
I\'ve had that happen at my work, and you have to give it to them. it ended up being an employees fault, and i made a comment to the customer like: \"oh it\'s your lucky day, someone messed up\"
I was on the receiving end of that as well during a sale when they placed the wrong signs above the wrong dresses and ended up getting a gorgeous dress that was $98 on for like $24 (at jacob in metro). i just went to the counter, put the dress up there, and when it rang in i said: \"oh, and that\'s on sale for $24 right? that\'s what the sign says\" the girl said, oh, ya and gave it to me for that. after i left she went and switched the signs...yes that was me knowing it was their fault, but i\'ve accidentally put things in the wrong place and had to own up to it.
i find it amazing that they don\'t have a line for customer complaints. see if you can get the district manager\'s name and number and contact them....they also have to deal with it so you may as well go to the next source.

Re:off the freaking wall

Yeah I know what you mean.
And it is shocking they do have a number for head office.
But they dont have any specific line.
My dad did have that arguement with them in the store.
He\'s a lawyer.. And well they weren\'t to pleased but they still managed to stick to they\'re little blah.
Theres no other word to explain it

Re:off the freaking wall

im sorry girl, that must have sucked ass!! must have also been a tad embrassing in the store.
i totally agree most girls (not all) who work at off the wall a total bitches, who are mostly plastic.
if i were you id flash an email off to the head of off the wall and ask for some thing to like make up for it.
often if you are unhappywith the service, or product of a store you can email them , and they may give u discounts.
i know oldnavy is really good for giving u the missed tagged item for the price, becuase like 3 times ive bought something form there and it was the american price ( say like 34$ amercian, but the rest are like 42$ candian)
they will give u the american price, but with candian dollars, so its pretttty sweeet!!!
but yeah ms orry u had to go through that at off the wall!!!

Re:off the freaking wall

Yeah I\'ve been looking around I have a number for head office.
Just haven\'t called it yet.
I\'ll try that tonight but they have no e mail contact.
Or address or anything.
Just a 604 number

that totally sucks! my gosh.. what kind of experienced manager would say such a thing? that completely shows how much experience she has been working! .. if she was seriously using her brain.. she would have realized that loosing profit is not as important as keeping up the customer experience at their store! .. i've worked at retail before and i understand how tough it is sometimes with customers.. but no matter what its all about the customer service! i now work at a bakery - cobs bread.. and whenever anything goes wrong on my end.. there is always the option of giving the product (bread) for free or at least with a discount. that girl is just unexperienced..

If your father is a lawyer the way you say he is, you would know that proper practice would dictate that lawyers don't confront the other party involved. And if your father is a lawyer the way you say he is, he would get his so-called staff to locate the head office address. My sister works for the head office and it's located on McConnell Drive in Burnaby. But then your father should know this...if he was a lawyer, that is.
