good seafood restaurants

Does anyone know of any good seafood restaurants in Vancouver? My boyfriend loves seafood and always tells me about this seafood buffet place (which probably isn't the best) that he goes to. I want to take him somewhere when he comes back for a visit.

The thing is... I am allergic to shellfish! For those that don't know what shellfish is...: clams, oysters, crab, snail, lobster, etc... anything from the sea that has a shell. So hopefully you guys can recommend a place that also has entrees that are just fish.

Oh please don't recommend places like chinese restaurants that serve like alaska king crab... I'd like to know of places that are known for their seafood.

Thanks in Advance!

Re: good seafood restaurants

Joe Fortes in Downtown has yummy seafood. It's a seafood, steak and chops house. Last time I went I had their seafood tower on ice and the oysters were delicious! I also had one of their steaks and it was very good. So your boyfriend can have the seafood and you can try something else =)

Re: good seafood restaurants

The Cannery isn't too bad. =) Too bad you can't have shellfish... they have the BEST clam chowder.

Joe Fortes is good if you try the other stuff that they have.

Herons at Fairmont Waterfront was delicious when I last went there! Love Vancouver for it's seafood. mmmmm

Re: good seafood restaurants

If you're willing to spend a bit, C's Restaurant is supposed to be really good for seafood, or Goldfish Pacific Kitchen in Yaletown.

Re: good seafood restaurants

The Boathouse is cheaper than most seafood restaurants so I like going there for repeats. I recommend the miso halibut!!

Cardero's has really yummy appiez -- try the tuna tataki! it also has live music on some nights, if you're interested in those things.

Re: good seafood restaurants

Vancouver Yacht Club.
I've been there twice and i'm not sure if you need some kind of VIP access to dine there. Both times I went was for a company dinner, and there were lots of Professional business looking type people, and older mature adults in general. They have a seafood buffet every Friday that is absolutely AMAZING. Everything, down to the salads are top notch quality.
It's located in West Van, and it looks like a big white mansion on the outside, and there's several floors inside the building... Sorry i'm not able to give you any more information. I should probably ask my boss.

THE CANNERY! It`s seriously like my fave restaurant...they`ve got amazing fish, if you`re allergic to shellfish - especially salmon if you like salmon!!!

Re: good seafood restaurants

This is not ALL seafood restaurant, but I think Charterhouse in Steveston is good!
All dishes are average at around.. $7-16? I think the meal is worth it in the end. Free buns! :D
Nice view, and good atmosphere too!
