Re:good bar and grills?

ok, but by older crowd what do you mean?? How old is old? Rugby club is great, it\'s cheap drinks and good food. You have to get there early though as it tends to fill up.

Lucie Mae Brown\'s is quite small so depending on how big of a group you have you may want another place to go. It\'s a great atmosphere though.

You could also try the Jupiter Cafe off of Davie. They have a nice atmosphere as well.

Re:good bar and grills?

I love Lucy\'s! Cute waiters and good beats (downstairs). It\'s a mix of age, but mainly around 24-30 group.

Ya lucy\'s is an amazing atmosphere!! An ex bf of mine took me there on our first date......we started at Wild Rice, then when to Jupiter Lounge and ended at Lucy Mae\'s. It\'s definitely one of those \"hidden\" gems in Vancouver

Re:good bar and grills?

Rugby is definitely one of my top choices...

if you\'re looking for a good atmosphere to watch a game or a big fight (boxing, UFC), go to the bar at River Rock Casino in Richmond (2nd floor)...

they also have killer burgers :)

Re:good bar and grills?

Jupiter Lounge is nice, and it\'s actually pretty big, although parking sucks

I\'ve been there on numerous occasions, both with large groups and on dates, and i\'ve never had any issues with the food or drinks.

It just depends on what everyone likes and whatnot.

I\'ve always wanted to try Baltazar, but haven\'t had a chance. They\'re a lounge that turns into a dance floor. Has anyone tried there? And if so, how is it?

Re:good bar and grills?

babyblues: balthazar is an excellent place! however, it\'s more like a lounge though (not a bar and grill).. the food is ok and it\'s got a cool atmosphere...the lighting is dim and there\'s a dj playing background music.

jupiter lounge used to have really good food but it has since gone downhill (since about 2 yrs ago) ... u really have o have been there 2 yrs ago to be able to compare.. now i rarely hit up that place. (again, more like a lounge and not a bar and grill)

i\'ve never been to lucy\'s but with u all talkin about it i wanna check it out now

:)

Re:good bar and grills?

ya ryan, Lucy\'s is more of a lounge, not a bar/grill. It has a cool atmosphere and definitely a place to go for drinks with friends.

It\'s also a perfect place to bring a date ;)

Re:good bar and grills?

you should try Blarney Stone in gastown, the last time i went i had a blast! It\'s a bar/clube, there\'s a small dance floor and they play live irish or scottish music which i thought was great, takes u away from all that hip-hop. It\'s a fresher vibe in there and the bartenders are uber nice and crazy hehehe.

Re: good bar and grills?

Rugby is good but not great for large groups. I was choked, my birthday I reserved about a month in advance for like 15 people and they still had some crappy set up.
Jupiter was great the year before I went there. Seating was enough and the atmosphere is good there. We went to eat at Hamburger Mary's before and then Jupiter for the award winning Martini's.
There's Shark Club in Burnaby.
