Work Experience

soo about work experience in high school..where did you do it? how was it?

n e recommendations for me? (bby district) i think i want to become n accountant in the future..but i dont want to go all the way downtown to royal bank b/c i know a lot of ppl who went there...and they stapled papers all day. also their work experience didn't help them to get a job in the future, does that apply to most of you?

i had some old friends who used to be able to go to safeway/ae..as a sales associate/cashier...is that still available?

thanks guys =]

Re: Work Experience

Are you asking about career prep/work experience in highschool?

i wanted to be a nurse back when i was in grade 12... soo for career prep they sent me to a medical office, and all i did was at medical office assistant's work.. pull chart, filing etc..
then for one day they sent me out to ubc and i shadowed a day of a nursing student... going to class w. them etc...

i had a friend she was into fashion designed so for her placement she got to work at lululemon, and they hired her as staff after her 2 weeks tehre

Re: Work Experience

you can apply for a job @ safeway/ae and use those hours as work experience if your school doesn't have the connections to put you in as work exp.

aw i wanted to go to a bank for work exp, but if stapling's all you do, i'm not sure :S

Re: Work Experience

HEY i did accounting work experience in grade 12! highly recommend Health Employers Association of British Columbia (HEABC). really good accounting experience.. very professional and has a variety of tasks (i've done Mariposa Head Office and it was a pain because i did the same thing every single day). Friendly and helpful staff, free hot chocolate/coffee, comfortable environment and good neighbourhood. And the best part was? I met a Hugo Boss model there. he was smokin hot =) hehe
