Re: experiences with ebay

My parents are big supporters of Ebay.. anything I want? "Get it off Ebay" or anything I don't want "Sell it on Ebay"

My experience with Ebay is generally good. I've bought a few of my clothes off there and I loved them, although one Abercrombie sweater turned out to be a fake.. but no one could tell so it was ok.

You should be careful though. Alot of people attempt to scam their way through, and if you're not careful you could lose a lot of money. My mom bought a 300$ watch, which turned out to be fake, and the seller had attempted to run off with the money.

So always trust your instincts.

Re: experiences with ebay

I generally have good experiences on eBay as well.

It's always handy to buy electronic accessories like cell phone chargers, ipod accessories etc because it's usually a quarter of the price in stores. I never buy anything where I have to worry about authenticity because there is a lot of fake stuff on there and sometimes its hard to tell just from pictures.

I only had 1 experience where my lap top charger broke a day after I bought it. But it turned out fine. It was a little bit of a hassle to mail it back and wait for a replacement. But I can't really complain.

Re: experiences with ebay

I've bought clothes off of EBAY before, jewellery, shoes, as well as new DVD's.......only one time (knock on wood) I had a problem w/a seller who refused to ship the goods (not only to me, but to a number of people) and refused to get into contact w/the sellers after we paid for the items.....but b/c I used Paypal, i got my $$ back

My recommendation with clothing.....if you're thinking of buying designer jeans, i'd stay clear b/c 90% of them out there are complete fake, and you can't tell until you get the items, and many times it'll cost you more to ship it back than what the item was worth in the first place.

Re: experiences with ebay

In my early days of ebaying and being an ebay newbie my bf and i bought a pair of nike shox for my him. You would've thought the cheap price would've set off warning bells for us but nope. When they came I was horrified at how terrible they were, not even good quality fakes! haha Boy, did I write a looong nasty email to the seller .. who ended up refunded the full cost plus all shipping charges. I was lucky for that!
That was the only bad experience I've had through ebay, the others were overall good. I LOVE ebaying, and now more aware of fakes! Always do your research!!!!

Re: experiences with ebay

I've had many good experiences with ebay. You can find anything on there. If you're a newbie be careful about the cost of shipping as sometimes the price seems good but they more than make up for the cost by hiking up the shipping cost of items. Don't forget that you may also have to pay duty for items if they are being sent from anywhere but Canada. I only purchase from sellers that send via USPS as Fed Ex and UPS have crazy hidden fees for the buyer. Pay by paypal as if something goes wrong then you will most likely get your money back. If you do send anything back to a seller make sure you get "Tracking".
The only bad experience i had was waay back I bought 2 DDR dance pads from ebay and 1 of them didn't work. the seller told me to pay for shipping back and they'll send a free one. I didn't understand why i had to pay the shipping as it wasn't my fault he sent me a faulty
item but i didn't know i could file a complaint. I ended up just keeping the broken DDR mat

I wouldn't suggest buying any high end items on ebay as most of them are fake.

If anyone has any questions about ebay feel free to ask me!!
If you do your reasearch you can find great deals. I love ebay!

Re: experiences with ebay

eBay is great! My experience has been good. I can't stress how important it is though to always check the seller's feedback. You can get a good sense of how your experience will be with them (whether it's about the speed of shipping, the quality of their products, level of communication, etc).

If you're relatively new to eBay, I wouldn't recommend buying high end brand name products because it's horrible the high number of dishonest sellers who try to pass off fake items as real. The sad thing is these fake items are sometimes difficult to spot out with the untrained eye. However, that's not to say that you can never buy a truly authentic item from an eBay seller. There are definitely some great sellers out there who do sell authentic bags, clothes, shoes, makeup and whatnot. Like I said, it's important to check their feedback. Though I also must stress that just because they have a low number of feedback doesn't mean they're a bad seller, or if they have a huge number of transactions doesn't mean they're an honest one! I once bought a NARS bronzer makeup brush from a seller who had a lot of transactions and a high positive feedback, but after a couple months the brush section popped off from its handle, and you could see inside a really cruddy glue job.

Do all sorts of searches, sometimes you can find real gems on eBay

Re: experiences with ebay

Oh, and another thing. Don't be afraid to ask QUESTIONS. Sellers should have nothing to hide and be happy to answer your questions if they want to sell their product. They should appreciate your business! Whether it's about the proper sizing of shoes, clothes, or clarification about the item description. I once saw this case on one of those court tv shows where an eBay buyer was suing a seller because she had believed she was purchasing a phone off her from eBay, whereas the seller had somehow tricked her into paying the full price of a phone only to receive a PICTURE of it. How unbelievable is that! That seller's a fraudulent idiot but it definitely shows you need to read everything carefully :)

Ohhh yes definitely be aware of customs! Some sellers will put "gift" or something so you don't get taxed too much.

Miso: That almost happened to my dad! He was buying an Xbox, and then he checked the sub-listings for the item and turns out it was just a poster, but the seller neglected to say that in the description. So always dig a little when you're buying on Ebay.
