Selling on Ebay??

Anyone ever sell their stuff on Ebay?
I have 5 free listings (so do all new members), and I don't even know how to use them.
Like, you take a picture and what not, but how are you supposed to put what price you want it at & all that?
What about shipping? Are you allowed to just ship to Canada/US?
Can someone give me a quick run-down? haha :)
Much appreciated!

Re: Selling on Ebay??

You can definitely adjust where you ship items.

Canadian shipping is really pricey, but look into the flat rate boxes that they just recently introduced.
Or you can bring your items to be weighed at the post office before you put up your listings. This way you can be accurate about the shipping. Although you will notice that people overcharge for shipping on ebay....

A good way to price things is to do a search of a similar item and see how much those items are selling for.

Make sure you take good pictures (more than 1 is best) and have as much details as possible when describing your items!

Re: Selling on Ebay??

Ebay pretty much guides you on selling, you just have to fill everything in.
like if you want to sell in USD or CAD
if you want auction with BIN or just BIN or Best Offer
if you want to add more than one picture (first is free, each extra picture is like 12cents.. or it might be 15cents).
You enter your own shipping fee, whether you want to ship only Canada or USA or if internationally (you can pick which countries).
your payment options (paypay only, cheque, money order..)

I've sold quite a few things on ebay since the beginning of May(I dont know if you remember, but you helped me out with shipping info!) Personally I don't find it that worth it unless I know the item would get bids for sure, and if it's an Ebay Promo (like Fixed rate of 5Cents a listing-- since there are insertion fees depending on how much you start your item on or if you pick a BIN option). Ebay charges you a insertion fee and then a final price fee (a % of the auction end price)... and on top of that if you accept Paypal, after a certain # of times you recieve payment from Ebay on Paypal they'll make you upgrade and pay a Paypal fee based on % of how much the sale was.

^^ Ya! I do remember giving you some tips on shipping! I didn't know that was for Ebay though! ahha :) I thought it was maybe for here or something...
I will give it a shot! Maybe tonight or tomorrow...
Hopefully it works out okay! I have 5 free listings anyway, so we'll give it a go! :) Thanks everyone!

Re: Selling on Ebay??

^ Ebay tends to have delay on items that you sell but they should pop up soon...When I list my designer items they can sometimes take half a day to a full day to pop up!

As for your other questions...

You can ship world wide if you like its really up to you to decide...You should be careful when shipping certain items though. Like for designer bags you should never ship to Asia or Itally and France because they have lots of problems with Fraud and Customs. Never ship a item without a tracking number...if the buyer says that they did not receive it at least you would have proof. And always ship to a confirmed address! Also if you sell a high priced item...its always good to have the funds cleared into your account prior to shipping just incase the buyer tries to file a paypal claim against you or do a chargeback after you ship.

With the pictures...if i'm selling my designer bags or something of high value then it's always good to take lots of pictures...I know that this will cost you more but you will get a higher price for it too! When I am listing things that i'm not selling for so much then I would just use one picture which is Free!

Re: Selling on Ebay??

^ i think people need to bid on it.. and the seller puts a certain increment increase every time someone bids.. so it's actually not 1cent

They only lower the price of the item and raise the shipping price because ebay keeps raising the price of sellers selling fees. By listing the item at only 1¢ the seller's lowering his selling fees. It only makes sense. Like if a pair of Puma shoes is 1¢ and the shipping price is $55 it's still worth it to buy it for only $55.01 you know what I'm sayin?
