real bags are overpriced and i definately can't afford one. maybe because i'm still young, but if i CAN afford one when i grow up, i would buy authentics instead of knockoffs.

i often end up dressing like a hobo and using a designer bag cause i'm too lazy to switch purses. often i wonder if people would mistake mine as fake? the way i see it, with all the kids out there using the designer bags, you either have a sugar daddy if not it's fake. if you're a teen and you have authentic anything, you're coming from a background where money means nothing. i have a friend who's daughter's friend received a $120k mercedes as a grad gift. it's like the oc but in vancouver.

I think compromising on either going for all clothing or shoes or jewelry or bags is a very healthy way to enjoy buying beautiful things without possible bankruptcy. If one particular aspect of your wardrobe brings you joy, then it makes sense to spend most of your available money on it. Personally, I love shoes and clothes so I spend my cash on that and don't bother paying a lot for things I don't really care about, like runners or earrings and so on. It's just being efficient; you know, more bang for your buck and everything.

On fake bags, there's also the aspect of them essentially being illegal and immoral, as it is literally stealing someone else's ideas. I can understand their appeal, though.

It's possible that there are some girls who wear expensive clothes or look like they are wearing expensive clothes, carry knock off bags that are high quality and vice versa. I don't think anyone has the right to judge or say that something is fake unless it's really obvious or you truly know your sh*t. For me personally, I am an absolute bag lover and I use to buy expensive stuff but because they're so many fakes around, there really is no point. Eventhough I know it's real, it sucks when you spend a couple hundred dollars on something and people second guess you. I mean, am I suppose to carry my receipt around just to prove to people that it's real? I know I shouldn't care but if there are knock offs that look just as good, what is the point anyway? It's sorta like this, if people are gonna think it's fake, just buy the knock off and save yourself the money! Does anyone feel this way???

So after I decided not to spend any more money on the real deal, I bought a knock off Chanel bowling bag online for $120 and compared it to my friends real one and it was identical from the stitching to the buttery softness! This is the first and only knock off bag I've purchased but it was definitely worth it. She felt real shitty afterwards. And when people ask me about my bag, I just direct them to the site where I got it =)

That's why I don't spend a lot on bags anymore, especially now that I have to pay for my car and for school. When I think about it, it's sorta ridiculous spending that much money on one item when you can put that money towards something else that you could get a REAL good use out of. But if you have the money to throw around then that's a different story. I guess when it comes down to it, if you're gonna carry a fake, admit that it's fake.

PS. I stopped buying bags in general. The only bag I sport nowadays is my Jansport backpack, love it!!! But I still drool over the sight of a hot bag =) For girls who are trying to save up for that $2000 Chanel bag, I say buy a used car, it could do a lot more for you!!

yeah, it's definately better to spend $2000 on something more productive..

i don't have any high end designer bags..(i have coach but coach isn't that super high end)...i have enough money to buy multiple $2000 purses..but i won't buy it just like that...because i would feel guilty if i spent so much. that's why i'm starting a purse fund with all my tip money for a $1000 purse...so i won't feel as guilty lol =D

i know what you mean! i have friends in west van that have to attend charity events every weekend. they're not snobby and bragging about their $$ but they have do have expensive stuff to keep up appearances and stuff like that.

what i don't like are the kids who acts all snobby and what what not because of how much money they have and flash all this $$ around. newsflash, you're not rich. your parents are, you just won the genetic lottery.

I agree, Coach is more affordable than the higher end stuff and you won't feel too guilty dishing out around $250 or so for a quality bag. It sounds like a neat idea that you leave aside tip money for your purchase. This way it won't seem like a month's worth of pay is going to one item. I have a huge jar filled with pennies, nickles and dimes..... =)
