Re: buying new glasses

Glasses are the most overpriced things in the market!

I never knew this but you can actually BARGAIN for your glasses...my dad basically said upfront that we only have $350 in insurance and my family (all 5 members wear glasses) has always gone to lens crafters and to offer him the best deal they can. (Also helps if you're a BCAA member because you get additional discount.) The glasses I got with the frames I chose would have cost $550+ and the manager knocked it down to $345 including tax.

So if you or anyone in your family have previously purchased glasses from that store, just talk to them. Tell them you really want to buy the glasses for them but ask that they give you an incentive. It works!

Also check this out:

Btw, I got these in brown:

Goodluck!

No kidding! I wish I would have known that you could bargain! I just bought a new pair (low Rx) which I wear mostly for tv and driving and they were almost 500 bucks! Argh!!!

I really should have shopped around more, but even picking out frames is such a process!!!

Re: buying new glasses

I just bought a new pair of glasses a couple of months ago from the optical place in Yohan Centre. Mine came to $230 with tax included and are Ralph Lauren and my sister's glasses were $220 with tax and are Armani. We bought ours at the same time so she gave us a discount. The lady that owns the store is super nice and is willing to bargain. The store has quite a few designer frames.

Re: buying new glasses

Here's a previous thread about glasses:

I suggest Asian places like the ones in Parker Place. I got mine there for cheap!

Re: buying new glasses

I got my glasses at the Optical Store, which is the Chinese Glasses store sort of between Parker Place and Aberdeen. They have pretty good prices.

Re: buying new glasses

The store I got my glasses from is called Studio Optical and the lady that gave me the deal is Jocelyn. The phone number is 604-231-0080 in Yohan centre. Hope that helps.

the cost depends on your insurance/health care, if your under 18 (i think) it should be free, otherwise i think its around 50-80 bucks. otherwise you can always call your local optometrist and ask

Re: buying new glasses

To get an eye exam, it's usually better to go to an optometrist. It can get pricey though.

My brother & I usually go to a store called Factory Optical. They're on West 7th & Ash. I think their prices are pretty competitive.

Re: buying new glasses

OMG go to Skylight optical on Robson. I was quoted for a pair of Chanel for almost 600 Dollars. I got the exact same glasses brand ordered from the manufacturer for only $415. That included tax and lenses. Lol and my lens's are usually expensive cus I have bad eyesight But I love my new glasses they were ready by the next day and the salesman was super nice! I also got a two year warranty. Best experience.

Oh they also have awesome deals on sunglasses! So much cheaper than any corporate store.
