Best hemming places?

i don't know if this thread has been done before, but i'm just curious. what, in your opinion and past experiences, is the best place to get your jeans/pants hemmed? oh and especially if you still want to keep the original hem on your pants. i've only got mine done at that store near old navy in metro (i think it's called "stitch it" or something?) because i've never gotten my pants hemmed before. i found the job and the employees and the prices to be mediocre. $7.50 without original hem, and i think $14.50 with the original hem.

any other places you guys can suggest?

Re: Best hemming places?

I've brought my jeans to the alteration place near zellers at metrotown. they did a good job, it was like 6.50 for regular hemming and 13 bucks for original. Dunno if it's the same place still b/c they changed their name. OH and did you know that when you buy jeans at Below the belt, they do original hemming for 6.50, pretty sweet. Good to check with the stores if they do instore hemming. and yes they did a good job with the hemming @ BTB. I found it to be a bit too long and they re-hemmed it for me again at no charge =)

Re: Best hemming places?

i went to Stitch It besides Old Navy in metro before.
and i hate that place and never plan to go back

i had a not so good experience there. i was getting my juicy heiress sweatpants hemmed there..and i specifically asked for a certain length and pointed it out to them where i wanted the bottom of my pants to hit - just touching the bottom of my heels on my runners.

they argued with me and said that if the pant bottom was "shorter" it be better. i wanted to say "yeah better for u but not for me since i'll be the one wearing the pants - not u" instead, i just told them politely that i didn't think shorter would look good cuz i don't like the look of short pants and i gave a reference to Erkel lol. and the seamstressed gave me attitude in the end, the hemming was alright. good thing they didn't screw it up......or else that's $165 down the drain.

thus, i'm never going back there ever again. i like going to the other alteration place in metro. it's on the superstore level right across from that bbt place. it's own by an asian lady and she's nice. and she'll do it exactly the way u want it i go there all the time when i need my pants hemmed. price wise?...hm..i never did original hem there..i forgot the exact pricing. but it's a lil less than Stitch It. and it's usually done in 30 mins too.

also, my bf went to that alteration place in metro beside zellers! they did a good job on his jeans! just go anywhere but Stitch It lol.

Re: Best hemming places?

is Stitch It the one with 15min service? I went there twice. first time they were good, second time was terrible.
i went because i wanted my pants to be done quickly and there was 15min serivce. the lady asked me what shoes i would wear, and i told her to just make it just a bit higher than the bottom of my feet and she made them to my ankles..i never wear those pants anymore, they look bad! at least i got them cheap on sale though..
