loonie store products

hey ppl =)

so i know many stores like a buck or two etc sell cosmetics for 1/4 of the normal price, my question is, are those products expired? is it legal to sell expired products?

and why r loonie stores selling caboodles products when the brand has been discontinued?

i'm a bit skeptical about buying products from loonie stores if there are chances of side effects.

thanks

Re: loonie store products

Well, chances are, if you're buying ANYTHING from a loonie/toonie store, I don't think you should expect much quality wise. It could be expired or just unpopular amongst make-up users so they sell it to the toonie/loonie stores for cheap and the store sells it for a fraction of the price. But anything you put on your face, make sure you buy it from a store that has good reputation and that you can trust. After all, you present your face to the world and you cannot afford to mess it up!

Re: loonie store products

when i was in hs and jsut started to wear makeup i bought an eyeliner pencil from there and it totally sucked. it would not come off onto my skin at all. it literally felt like a pencil crayon that i was rubbing on my face. i woldn't expect much from things you buy from the dollar store i guess it's the saying, "you get when you paid for..."

well i don't know about that... since my experience i have never tried makeup there again. all i go there for are the drinks, candies, gift bags, etc... i think the nail polish remover would be fine though. i guess it wouldn't hurt to try it out since it's only $1-2.

also... how can you go wrong with a caboodle?

Re: loonie store products

in gr8, i had to do science fair with this girl..and she said her sister buys nail polish/cosmetics from the dollar store..(no name brand ones) her sister didn't have any rashes or stuff on her face..so i guess its fine..but i wouldnt do it because i have really sensitive skin, even to neutrogena face wash!

it doesnt hurt to try, make eup has no actual expiry date, i suppose leaving them around for 3-4 years max is okay

Re: loonie store products

i'm pretty sure the make up will be harder to get on your face as well. for example the blush: cheap ones you ahve to really press down and rub the brush to get any colour on it, and pencil eyeliner: my experience, and lipstick: looks more dry when put on, etc...

Re: loonie store products

FYI I bought some blush from Daiso, the toonie store. The color itself was great and it stayed on my face almost for the whole day. However, after two days of using it, I realized that I had a few acne (the red/white head kind) and they were hurting a bit. It never happened before with wearing any other of my make-up. After I washed it off, I used a cleansing mask and it hurt!! I think my cheeks are dryer now :S My mom used to tell me not to buy make-up (especially eye or lip make-up) because they're made of cheap and perhaps harmful chemicals. I learned my lesson.
