How to wear a scarf

Hey everyone,
I was thinking of buying a scarf like this:
Click the image to open in full size.

From American Apparel,
But I went to try it on the other day, and it's sooooo long on me. It's also really "thick", width-wise, but I still really like it, because the material is really comfy and it's like an all-purpose, solid-colored scarf (I was thinking black). On the website, there is a video on "how to wear this scarf", but when I clicked on it and watched it, it only said how to wear it in all different ways... except how to wear it as an actual scarf! It was like tube top, skirt, belt, head wrap... except not how to wrap it around your neck. When I fold it in half length-wise, and put the end through, the scarf goes past my crotch and halfway down to my knees. When I wear it like the girl in the picture, it pretty much goes down to my knees. Is there any other way to wear it so it's not so incredibly long? Or is buying this scarf pretty much a lost cause?

Re: How to wear a scarf

I wear my scarves tied around my neck in a triangle (you fold your scarf into a rectangle, then diagonally to make a triangle, then tie it around your neck). Or what I do is fold my scarf in half (length wise), wrap it around my neck and then put one end into the loop of the other. I hope that made sense lol!

Re: How to wear a scarf

You can wrap it around your neck a couple times but loosen it a little so the look doesn't look so forced.

You can't really wear your scarf the way hoOoneydipped described if you have a long scarf like in the picture though. You'd need one that's square-shaped.

Haha, that's what I thought but if you fold it into a rectangle and then fold it diagonally, it works too.

Lol I never tried that.. I guess a lot of my longer scarves are too thick to be folded much.

Re: How to wear a scarf

I think it's getting warmer cuz spring's approaching. I wouldn't buy a scarf like right now cuz chances are you won't be wearing it too much. (and it seems that you might have trouble styling it cuz of the way it was designed). Except if you are going somewhere colder..

Re: How to wear a scarf

It's ok to wear a thinner scarf now. I have 2 cashmere scarves and I wore one a few days ago and was kinda sweating in the mall So maybe you should wear thicker scarves outside only now and thinner scarves indoors.

Re: How to wear a scarf

I saw this show the other day, and it showed how celebrities wear their scarfs! I wore mine the other day like this girl had it, and it looked cute!
You can wear it the way I did, and how that celeb had it, simply put it on how you would, like in this pic: http://www.hottogs.com/wp-content/up...mens-scarf.jpg
Then take those dangly ends that are in the front, and just flip BOTH of them to the back!
It's really simple, but it looks chic IMO. + You won't be able to really tell how long it is, since the ends are at your back!
And how everyone wears it is like this: http://www.hottogs.com/wp-content/up...mens-scarf.jpg
But you can tuck your ends into a jacket, and letting them dangle underneath your coat looks nice, if you wear the right colours.
You can also try and wear it like Lindsay lohan did in this pic (just loose..doesnt really have a purpose but to look good ) http://stealthestyle.com/wp-content/.../liloscarf.jpg
(I like the pic in the right hand corner, but im not sure how she does it!)
hope this was helpful!!

Re: How to wear a scarf

Apart from wearing scarves around your necks, does anyone here wear scarves on their head?
