Question crossing the border questions

Ok, I have a really interestingly good question (at least i think so) hehe

Since Washington's hot shopping spots are pretty much populated with our vancouver citizens... example...Seattle Premium Outlet...in order to head down there, obviously we all have to stress crossing through the border...

What I'm really REALLY curious to know are:
1. what excuse do you use to pass through the border?

2. what do you say to custom when your coming back from the states? (you know your guilty of spending mad amount of cash on those 5 pairs of jeans, handbages, tops, shoes, accessories etc. plus you look 50lbs heavier-if you know what i mean..hehe)

3. if you've gotten caught?

4. what do you say after that? or what do custom do after that?

5. have you got your car searched before?

pls share you reasons and experience(s) with us... hehe

Re: crossing the border questions

1. what excuse do you use to pass through the border?
No excuse. I tell them the truth. I'm going shopping. Why lie about that?

2. what do you say to custom when your coming back from the states?
The truth to an extent. I will save my receipts and tell them what i've bought but maybe not what i'm wearing back over. and make sure the sum of the receipts is legit to where and when u were gone.

3. if you've gotten caught?
Yes. I regret it. I paid a $175 fine. Just make sure your tags on yur new stuff adds up to the receipts.

4. what do you say after that? or what do custom do after that?
I had no problems, in regards to being caught after that incident. I paid taxes once. the other 10 times the border ppl jus let us go home. i wasnt flagged or anything..not that I know of.

5. have you got your car searched before?
Yes. When i was entering to go to the States. No biggie. I didn't have anything to hide..and my bf at the time had a luxury suv...so maybe the border guards had some sterotypes...we r young and asian too.

1. what excuse do you use to pass through the border?
I either tell the truth and say i'm going down to shop, or just going for a little trip down to downtown seattle, enjoy the day :)

2. what do you say to custom when your coming back from the states?
LOL, I know what you mean, I wear as much as I can. :) a little lying can't hurt. I always seem to be able to wear everything I bought.

3. if you've gotten caught?
I've never, could be a lot of money if fined.

4. what do you say after that? or what do custom do after that?
normally they tax you.

5. have you got your car searched before?
nope

Re: crossing the border questions

1. what excuse do you use to pass through the border?
groceries plus bit of shopping. I do go groceries shopping.

2. what do you say to custom when your coming back from the states?
the total cost. I usually just wear the expensive ones and include the cheap ones into the total. I keep the receipts of the one that I included in the total value and throw the one I'm wearing out unless I'm planning to return/exchange. I usually don't buy a lot since there's nothing really to buy and I go down there very often.

3. if you've gotten caught?
never. if I did, I guess I have to pay for the fine.

4. what do you say after that? or what do custom do after that?
never had that problem but I guess they search your car, tax you, and enter it into your record.

5. have you got your car searched before?
yes, a couple of times.

this is a very popular question asked many times. but to answer it. you dont need a passpart if you are driving across the border until june 2009. yur driver's license and birth certificate is fine. the reason why ppl are lining up to get their passport because now you need yur passport to fly to anywhere in the states from canada.
