thanks for the help you guys, i have another question. I'm looking for one of those mats that you put over your yoga mat, so you don't slip (if you are sweaty) anyopne know any good brands and where to get them?
Yaletown Yoga offers classes that are lower in temperature for the beginners. I find that I like it hotter after being used to the heat. When it was abit lower it felt cold!

^^
ask your yoga studio which brand they rent out to beginners, and see if they sell them. or you can try to look for the brand that they use in a sports store it might be cheaper
lululemon has yoga mats as well
Hey at hot yoga I just put a bath sheet on top of my yoga mat so I don't slip.
Although it does shift a bit regardless.
But yeah I found the towel to be the best I've used other stuff but don't forget that you're going to be laying down on it and stuff too right.
I would def recommend a bathsheet or a big enough towel.
=)
Let it go in one ear and out the other
I believe you can get these microfiber towels at Lululemon to put over your mat or just use a bath towel. the microfiber is better as it wrings out easily and is lighter when wet. There are also Bikram mats which is a terry cloth covering on topped mat. My concern is that its hard to clean and you would really need to dry it properly to make sure no bacteria forms.I think you can find those at the Bikrams studios exclusively.
Those ones at Bikrams are really hard to cleann!!!
Don't use them.. its like a bacteria breeding ground..
I've never heard of the microfibre one.. but make sure you get a big one to
actually cover your mat.
Sometimes a simple bath towel doesnt work out.
Besides you can get a bath sheeet at walmart for like 6 dollars and keep it for hot yoga..
Its inexpensive and easy to clean.

thanks again you guys, i have one more question. Do you guys continue with your yoga routine during that time of the month? Mine is coming up and i'm not sure what to do yet
I don't cos sweating and bleeding at the same time is just too nasty
Some types of yoga dont rec that you do yoga during that time of the month cos inverted postures interfere with the flow or they tell you to skip that posture. But just do what you feel is right, if you feel too crummy then for sure dont do any yoga.
^^ thanks for the advice and yeah that makes sense with the inverted poses

hi,I see people overdress for bikram the 1st time always.Shakti wear makes great hot yoga clothes ,they have a website. The bikram studio in Courtenay sells it as well as the microfibre towels.I think the studio in Victoria does as well.lululemon has good bra tops and I too found a pair of Joe shorts for 14.00.
