Hey Guys i just got a new computer and i really dont want this one to get virus and stuff like my old one even this one has a firewall and windows live 1care Juss wondering is there any safe downloading programs out there?? I hate limewire its slows down your computer alot!

Tetris Champion! This isn't a way of preventing viruses and spyware, but it is a way of getting rid of most of them. I used to use Panda Software virus scan a lot when I downloaded programs or used the internet through UBC. Just google Panda Software and download their virus detection program. It usually runs through all the files and applications on your computer and then fixes any viruses and spyware. And it tells you where you got the virus and what the virus was doing to your computer. It was free.
There's no such thing as a safe download program because just you never know what kind of corrupt files are shared within them. To stay completely safe, just don't download anything or get stuff sent to you by friends. Like CarolineClap said, a good virus detection program can detect viruses but some can still get through...
I use McAfee which I got free from work and Windows Firewall.

Pacman Champion! limewire is a bit tricky because after search for something, you have sift through the search results to make sure you don't accidentally click on something that redirects you to a website or ends up being malicious software. i never have any problems because before i download something, i look at the file size (generally mp3s are between (3 - 8 MB) and mouse over the file to see if a URL shows up.
most ppl these days use some sort of bit torrent client such as ABC:
